and the AKR :

The Taiga and the AWW didn't make it due to my lack of attention - grrr.

Popped another Taiga #1 into water yesterday, she sank within 12 hours and i've put her straight in the pot, no damp paper towels, cling film or riot cubes, just the soil.

Popped another AWW in water just now (forgot to yesterday).

Cheers for reading!

Howdy! This looks rather exciting, hope you don't mind if I tag along and take some notes.

Welcome Grim and Derek (nice onesy!).

The Taiga #1 has started to exit the seed shell :

Just waiting for the AWW now, i germinated her a day after the Taiga so should show her shoots in a day or two.

Really looking forward to a soil grow, it's been a while!

Cheers,

Starting the seeds in soil rather than kitchen towel/clingfilm looks like a slower start, what do people think ?

Cheers,

It sure is slower Steely but your letting nature take its course that way.

After using paper towel for some time, I tested direct to soil method and was half day faster. No big deal. I think the most important thing is, that you really take care of moisting soil surface all the time. If it goes dry, development might be really slow.

But there is no big difference between both methods and none of them makes any troubles if done properly.

Good Luck!

(nice onesy!).

Thanks man, i try! “Being perfectly well-dressed gives one a tranquility that no religion can bestow.” as someone who must have had a similar onesy once said.

Re germinating in soil; it's all I've ever known (mostly more traditional gardening). Keep the soil moist, bang a bit of clingfilm over the pot if you cant be bothered to keep misting it, then check every 12 hours or so. The seeds will sort themselves in their own time.

Cheers General Custer ;+}

12 hours later, the AWW has come out of her shell :

So all four ladies are GO!
