HiGH True! :D

That is one heck of a setup!! ^_^
Far be it for me to answer for the King himself ... but as he well knows i'm a bit of a stalker

I remembered this was buried deep in his autofrissan dew thread - you should read all his threads though for inspiration (apart from the silly posts that i put in there.)

Anyway - i remember he once graced us with some kingly insight on budrot ... and would you believe it ... here it is :D

Dreaded bud rot...

Experienced growers bear with me or roll your eyeballs, inexperienced growers please read and learn.

Please pay attention to your plants, spend time with your plants daily, soaking in the lovely warm grow room vibe, get to know them, their ins and outs, any imperfections, have pleasant positive thoughts about them, speak to them and give them nice names. Love and nurture them.

If you do you will be rewarded. The single little leaf (from the main cola) in the photo below being droopy and off colour was enough to alert Mr Jorilla ganjamoto to the fact that one of his ladies (a TD ) is ill and is suffering from a bud rot infection.

Four healthy chunky nuggets have had to be removed, but thankfully the infestation was not too severe and Juicy Lucy should recover.

Here are a few closeups of the damage...

Notice the yellow droopy leaves on each of the buds in amongst otherwise healthy green growth.

Now one or two of you may be asking how does one avoid getting the bud rot in the first place.... Good question.

Keeping the temperature and humidity low is a good start and keeping the air moving around the flowers as well , Mr Jorilla ganjamoto does this but since the ladies produce such dense tightly packed nuggets a little bit of rot is sadly inevitable. Therefore vigilance is essential.

Additives such as liquid silicon may make plants more resistant and also increase yield, this can also be used to raise pH as it is highly alkaline. Anti bud rot sprays such as Bud rot stop are available however Mr Jorilla ganjamoto has not yet tested this product type. UV-C emitting lights such as the Clean Light are now available for hobby growers which use UV-C radiation to kill bud rot spores, Mr Jorilla ganjamoto is going to invest in one of these and will post once tested.

Happy growing

Mr Jorilla ganjamoto.

Plus rep to anyone that can find a strange infestation picture in his threads and PM it to me

From what I've heard bud rot is a non issue with excessive amounts of air flowing into the buckets! 30L/min per bucket should do it! :)

If memory serves me right, i think King Jorilla Gangamoto did the above grow in soil!

I'm not a DWC grower myself and haven't heard about excessive air in the water helping with budrot (usually caused my air humidity). Maybe this was one of the reasons he went DWC? ... he possibly just wanted to grow the worlds biggest auto though

Mr Jorilla,

I just read the thread on Princess Madge again. Incredible that grow!
There is noting I can say thats not already been said before :)

Whats your take on bud rot?
The cause and best measures to prevent it?
Do you notice the problem more or less depending on the time of year?

My last DP AutoUltimate suffered a little, Ive read plenty on the subject but I never seem to find a decent solution or reason why it happens.
I came round to the idea of using 24 hour light, at least then there will be no condensation or damp inside my buds.

If the king can spare a moment I would be most grateful :tiphat:

I have tried the 24-0 lighting, it really does help a lot and i havent suffered with bud rot when doing this. Just to warn you though your equipment and lights will get very hot and sometimes it is best to give them a few hours off so things dont over heat and get damaged. Im not saying anything will happen just be careful is all.
Also with this light schedule your autos will more than likely finish a little earlier than expected, maybe 3-5 days earlier at most.
On another note i have found a good dehumidifier that fills roughly a 5 litre capacity tank every 24 hours or less is good for an area of 1.2mx1.2mx2m, should keep mold at bay when lights are off. Im also thinking about using a product called bud rot stop as a friend has used it and it had no ill effects to the plant or the bud when dried and smoked, didnt even change the taste. I have also read some bad review of this product too so i guess its going to depend on your RH and temps. Sorry for the rant my friend i was just giving my opinion on the matter as this is something i struggle with too.

Very professional set up. Love to see people do it right. That room will reward you plenty for years to come. Excited to see this one. I might pm you for your thoughts on auto ultimate its at top of my need to grow list but not to many reviews on her yet.

Hi Blue :)
Thanks for dropping in and posting the helpful link.

Ive not heard that mate, its a dark art indeed to be without but rot. Sadly I know from bitter experience.

I love you Blue !

Hey Mr Grim not at all, your very very welcome to share your views here.
Im grateful ! :)

Yea mate maybe Im going to try 24 hour lights on. My room is pretty big, so I would need at least a couple of large dehumidifiers and still Im not convinced.
I think when the lights go off, rads on and dehumidifiers on this is where the trouble starts.
If you have buds the size of children and tightly tightly packed the moisture still cant get out.

Ooof the pain of bud rot!!! I can barely speak of the ill it causes :(
Let me know if you try the bud rot stop stuff, Id be interested to hear what goes on.
Oh and nice one on the heads up with the kit getting hot. I hear you there but got things well under control :)

Cheers mate

True & Blue: Sorry I read root rot not bud rot! Face palm!!! :D

As Mr Ganjamoto says.. Bud rot is inevitable.. If your buds are dense & tight to the stem & a little moisture gets trapped in there.. That's it..
No matter how dry you keep the room.. You could have a tornado blowing in there around the buds.. Intake filters (I use a Phresh intake filter.. Seems good) It won't matter.. The rot will come..
From mid flower till harvest you just have to watch those bud leaves everyday.. If even one turns an off colour overnight or yellows overnight.. Get into it there & then & get it outta there.. It's a bastard... But sometimes unavoidable.. Unfortunately.

Right that's it from me.. Back to lurking.. Lol.

:Sharing One:

EDIT: that's not to say if your flowers are dense & chunky that's their always gonna get rot.. They won't.. But it'll always get you.. At some stage in time.

All the best true, I wish I had the space and diary time to test these girls, I think I saw Tang call the Kush and blackberry kush somewhere, but I may have my wires crossed somewhere.
