Grow Mediums Duckster's 2nd DWC

I did a res change today. Same mix as last time 2ml/l grow, micro, bloom with 1 ml/l of B-52, RhinoSkin, Carboload, Bigbud, Senizym, .75 ml/l CalMag, and .5 ml/l SM-90. Res temps at 80F, pH 5.95, and EC at 600. Both girls up to 32". Both girls are starting to get their buds on. The root systems have merged into a massive ball. Trying to hold the height of both girls to 32" but it is a constant battle. I have to be out of town for a week at the beginning of Oct. I will raise the light as high as it will go before I leave and hope for the best. A week of no pH adjustments or pulling them out of the light. God only knows what I will come back to.

Cheese XXL day 55 What a mess this one is. Lots of skinny little branches in the canopy. So many bud sites but doubtful if the skinny branches will support big buds. I guess they will just fall over and super crop themselves if the buds get too big.

Walter White day 44 I like the way this girl is developing, nice strong branches. I'm having to super crop her too, but not as much as the cheese. She is fighting to take back some of the space the cheese encroached on. Even though she is 11 days behind the cheese, her buds seem more developed.

Realized my thread has been lacking in humor, so have a laugh on me.

An elderly couple, Ray and Bessie, are "snowbirds" in Texas. Ray always wanted a pair of authentic cowboy boots. Seeing some on sale one day, he buys them and wears them home, walking proudly.

He walks into the house and says to his wife, "Notice anything different about me?" Bessie looks him over, "Nope."

Frustrated, Ray storms off into the bathroom, undresses, and walks back into the room completely naked except for the boots. Again, he asks, a little louder this time, "Notice anything different now??"

Bessie looks up and says, "Ray, what's different? It's hanging down today, it was hanging down yesterday, it'll be hanging down again tomorrow."

Furious, Ray yells, "AND DO YOU KNOW WHY IT IS HANGING DOWN, BESSIE? IT'S HANGING DOWN BECAUSE IT'S LOOKING AT MY NEW BOOTS!!"

To which Bessie replies, "Shoulda bought a hat, Ray. Ya really shoulda bought a hat"

I did a res change and took pictures a couple of days ago, but did not have time to post an update till now. I change to my final stage mix of 2ml/l grow, micro, bloom, Carboload, Budfactor X, with 1 ml/l of B-52, RhinoSkin, Overdrive, Senizym, .75 ml/l CalMag, and .5 ml/l SM-90. Res temps at 80F, pH 5.95, and EC at 650.

Walter White at 50 days. Her buds are starting to bulk up some and taking on some frost. The Cheese XXL is at 61 days. She has 100s of tiny buds but they don't seem to be putting on any weight. They do have a bit of frost and some of the pistols are turning brown. Sure hope those buds put on some weight, but if not, I will turn the sticky mess into batches of oil and hash.

Today a man knocked on my door and asked for a small donation towards the local swimming pool. I gave him a glass of water.

My therapist says I have a preoccupation with vengeance. We'll see about that.

My therapist said that my narcissism causes me to misread social situations. I’m pretty sure she was hitting on me.

Looking great in the jungle pal, reckon the Cheese will still do it for ya just think she is gonna be a long running girl, Walter looks like she is in flower and the Cheese a week or two behind just finishing stretch, weird about the pistils browning though, god knows another thought turned into another good ol ramble lol

@Duckster hey man nice grow you have going on! I love the uniformity of the canopy you're managing.

This is an observation I've noticed from looking at other people's grows: autos in DWC get huge. I think it's because of the way the taproot grows on an angle and how in DWC that really gives the taproot room to keep growing.

Anyway, I noticed you mention that your res temps are up to 80 F? Is that right?

the brown areas... that is root rot and it's caused by too high of res temps..

Optimal DWC conditions will produce roots almost pure white in color. Optimal res temp is 60-65 F. I used to run coleman coolers with aquarium water chillers after making the same mistake. I tried using rubbermades at first, then I insulated them and added chillers, but it was unreliable. The best is coolers for DWC.

I also checked out your previous thread.. is your feed tank transparent? Best to darken all res, tubing, etc to prevent algal blooms and other problems.

That's what I was thinking. I was figuring 70-80 days for the walter white. But I am thinking maybe 90-100 days on the cheese.

lmao - the even canopy is a constant battle and it's not so even. I know low res temps are preferred but impossible in my world at this time of year. My lights on cab temps are normally 10F above the room temp. My res is insulated and it has a chiller. I normally keeps the res about 10F below the cab temp. So my res is about the room temp 78-80F. The roots seem healthy. No slime, root rot, or bad smell. The brownish color seems to show up when I start to add B52 to the nute blend. Yep the feed tank is clear. The girls drink it dry so I replenish daily and it gets washed out with a mild soap/bleach mix when I do a weekly res change.
