Hey Doc. Im just gonna use the cfl's while they are seedlings. Once they get alil strength under their belt, im gonna switch to the 150. Does this sound like a good option Doc? This is my first hydro grow with autoflowering strains so any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks for the quick response Doc.

Hey doc i was wondering If it would be ok to foliar feed because my plants dont need water at the moment, but id still like them to get their first round of nutes in.

thats sounds like a good plan n will be gentle on them.

if they are in veg state n look like they need feeding give it a try, ive never done it but if your not spraying it on buds then i dont see the harm to try.

Hey doc! I got a quick question.
Right now im thinking of upgrading my lighting. However I dont want it to kill me on electric costs. Ive been checking my electric bill's for the past few months and so far they've all averaged about $3 to $3.35 per day. (Usual electric usage; shut off ac/heater when im not in the apt, run the dishwasher at night, turn off all lights [other then grow lights], etc).
Right now im growing on CFL lights. I have 4 23watt daylights, plus another 4 23watt soft white, with 4 14watt's around my grow.


Im wondering if theres something better that I can buy then what Im using right now that wont hurt me toooo much on the bill each month that will allow me to at least grow 5-6 autos?

a 250w hps is what it sounds like u need. u can grow 4 or 5 plants under it.

ok i've read this whole thread and can't find what i'm looking for so i suppose i'll just ask. i see alot here about seedlings going hermie under hps but i don't see anything about MH. I currently veg under a 400w MH and bloom under a 1000w HPS. I can also change the veg room to hps for autos. Does MH cause hermies like hps does?

I would suggest you look into LEDs or the Quantum Bad Boy T5s. Both are more energy efficient than HPS with the added benefit of not having to deal with the heat that HPS creates. I'm currently running three 240 watt LEDs in two areas and including my space heaters, hasn't added more than $40 to my monthly electric bill.

HPS lights alone don't cause plants to hermie, neither do MHs. Hermies are generally caused by stress, such as continual light leaks, but more often than not, it's genetic. Some of the early auto strains were prone to hermie do to their genetics. Most of those problems have been worked out. I've probably grown 200 - 250 autos plants at this point. I've only had 1 hermie and that was in a batch of seeds I was testing for a breeder. One of the things they were being tested for was hermies so it was more or less expected. Personally, I wouldn't be concerned about it as long as you buy quality seeds.

yah i just pulled my first auto hermie today out of my own seed stock so im watching my ladies closely but thats the first out of a few hundred that i have run so far.
