New Grower Doogal's first auto attemp

For silica I use General Hydroponics silica because its cheap and gets the job done. Now I wont be surprised if someone disputes this next comment, silica is silica. So get whatever you can and don't pay a ton of money for nutes.

Thanks for the heads up AJ. I actually have some silica left over that I used on some sunflowers last summer, I think it would be fine to use however I'm not chancing it. I'll pick up some of the shogun stuff or maybe just stop being tight and get the rhino skin :D

All of that has gone out the window now that I have had to switch to a 12/12 cycle (as of yesterday) due to one of my seeds being a Photo and not an Auto, so I had to turn on my Heater and will have to re-work everything now.
That must have been a pretty big shock, sorry to hear it man, hope it works out for you in the end though.

If the tents are second hand i would disinfect the whole things just to be sure ......dont want to end possibly infecting ur girls with god knows what.......

Fully agree mate :) The one I have up at the moment was new, still got a good clean though, but the other one in the corner is second hand. Everything got disinfected last week, which is when I found the bloody hole in it haha :D

Hi everyone and thanks for popping in to have a look.
I'm new here and made a post to say hi earlier with a little intro http://www.autoflower.org/threads/popping-in-to-say-hello.63616/

Last weekend I finally got around to taking the carpets out of my spare room and cleaning and disinfecting the whole place.
I haven't grown for over 10 years and this is my first try with autos so I'll be a complete noobie, please bear with me.

Setup :
1.2x1.2x2m tent
600w hps
5" extraction fan + 5" carbon filter
13.5L fabric pots
Biobizz lightmix soil
Mini heater/cooler just in case

20/4 light cycle
Temps 24-28 celcius
humidity 48%-56%

Nutrients :
Remo Nutrients Velo Kelp
Advanced Nutrients Sensi Grow+Bloom, Calmag xtra,
Mammoth P
Yet to decide between AN Overdrive/Big Bud or a dedicated PK nutrient for flowering.

I was thinking of adding a silicone based nutrient, however rhino skin by advanced nutrients is costly for what it does. This seems to be a more cost effective option : http://www.hydroponics.co.uk/shogun-silicon.html#.WmMVE6hl_cc
Not sure how it would mix with other nutrients. I know that silica based nutrients need to either be mixed into your water first before any other nutrient, or diluted before adding to a mix with other nutes in it.

Strains going in :
View attachment 852995
1x chem city blues - Mephisto
1x blue dream - Humboldt
1x alaskan thunderfuck - geneseeds
1x chem bubbly - seedsman
2x stress killer cbd - royal queen seeds
2x pineapple express - fast buds
2x summer berry kush - aztec smoke shop

So I started 5 days ago by putting my seeds into water glasses for around 14 hours until they all sank to the bottom and transferred them, wrapped in kitchen roll to dvd boxes. The next night I put up the tent, potted up my soil and gave it a light watering with 1/4 strength Velo Kelp.

Around 36-40 hours after I checked my dvd boxes and all my seeds had germinated :

So into the soil they went.

Had some initial temp problems on the first night of the light being on. Temps were going up to 28-30 degrees celcius with lights on and 15-17 degrees celcius when off. I made some small changes and got myself a heater/cooler and now temps are pretty damn good. Below photo is after I have had the doors open for around 8-10mins :

I'm not sure if there are too many plants in there, I had 10 fabric 13.5L pots, so I thought that I would try all 10, especially considering there are a couple of smaller known strains in there.
If I run into problems with space I have it covered. I have another tent which will be going up soon, I'm just planning it out and trying to decide whether I want to try my hand at throwing a WILMA system in there too.

So this morning I woke up, had my coffee and wake and bake, some lovely GG#4 grown by a friend

After which I went to check on the tent and to my surprise we have seedlings, 7 of them, so just waiting for 3 more to show their heads.

And finally, a little bit of light hearted comedy that I thought cultivators would like. Here's the sign on the door into my indoor garden, you would never have guessed whats in there would you?

anyway, thanks for checking in and I hope to do you guys proud, because I've mainly picked up all my planning and everything from the great stuff on these forums. I imagine things will be slow this next week or so but I will try and keep this thread going and updated.
Take it easy folks.
I like the sign. Welcome to AFN! I am also on my 1st indoor grow - day 44.
Its good you have a 2nd tent available, 10 would be... well you know.
I have 6 in a 4x2x5 and do a lot of tying and bending trying to keep each in their own area. But its lots of fun.

:vibe: good vibes for your grow
Appreciate it man @bushmasterar15 , right back at you. I like the set up that you got going with yours at the moment. Hope it goes great. I have some double grape that I was really tempted to put in mine but for some mad reason didn't, so will definitely sign up and see how it goes for you :)

Thanks @MrGoat! Hope that Blackberry Kush purples up for you big time. A friend of mine grew 5 last year and had good success with 4 turning purple and it was beautiful to smoke too.

As of this morning everyone is above soil and looking good. I had to slightly move the chem city blues seedling before it would play nice and show its head, it was slightly spiralling around itself within the soil rather than shooting up at any kind of angle. No harm done and looking good now, she responded to the light straight away.
Threw my phone in the room this morning and they all got to listen to some tunes for a while. On Doogal FM was : Pavarotti, Pink Floyd, James Brown, Eek a mouse and Sister Nancy. Have a good day all and blessed grows :pimp:

Hope everyone is doing well.
We've had a lot of snow here last few days and the drop in temperature has been surprisingly good for the tent. My temps have now stabilised at 23-25°C which is better than the high of 28°C I was getting to without the heater/cooler I bought, but I haven't had a need to use it for the past 2 days as temps have been fine.

So far I've fed each plant roughly 1L every 2-3 days. The water has been left for around 36-48 hours to get all the chlorine and crap out of it.
The only thing I've put in the water so far is 1/4 strength Remo Velo Kelp.
I'm planning to start using sensi grow a+b around day 10-14 and possibly some sensi calmag xtra around the same time (i have very soft water over here)

Most of the girls look fine, however the chem city blues is lagging behind the rest and has some kind of mark on one of her leaves, I'm just putting this down to the fact that she didn't fully germinate properly and couldn't break soil without my help. I had thought a few days ago that she might not make it, but over the last couple of days she's looked better (I think)

One of my Chem Bubbly has also decided to come out of the ground with 6 leaves instead of 4. All my other seedlings have 4 leaves. Don't really know if this means anything or makes any difference

and they all got a lovely dose of music also. They listened to a 2 hour classical music album with all of the phreshest hits (is that what the cool kids say these days?) from the 17th century :D
Have a great day all and good vibes for all your plants.

New life above the soil is always exciting!

That it is Dudeski.
I like this indoor gardening, its a lot warmer. I've just been out to the greenhouse to check on some beans and herbs I have coming through and I must admit I could get used to the warmth of this indoor growing business, especially when its snowing outside :snow2:

I bet! It's nice and cozy in the tent.
