LOL....question of the century, huh?

So I have a bag of 5 Northern Lights Auto seeds in a bag just arrived. All the seeds look fine from shipping, 4 seeds seem to be of a normal size, but one seed is 2/3 their size and clearly a runt.

Question: Will a small runt looking seed produce a smaller plant than the larger seeds? I know genetics will enter into the discussion, but unless I popped all 5 seeds and tracked the runt for size and yield, I'd simply be guessing. But I figure other growers may have done this, so I'm hoping to learn from you.

Thanks!

Hey there! :D It's a good question

In my experience, the size of the seed has no bearing on the size of the plant. Some of the smallest, palest little seeds i've seen have produced great big plants, and i've had the nice mottled brown fat ones that have occasionally turned out small!

Drop it and see! :D

Thanks...glad to know size of the seed doesn't necessarily mean the plant will be a dud or a small plant. Genetics for sure come into play, so maybe this runt seed will surprise us and produce an awesome Auto plant.

Thanks for the reply!!

If you look at some of the original and landrace sativas, their seeds are tiny. Like absolutely tiny, but when they are done outside they often top out at 3-4 meters! That being said, when you harvest seeds from a mother not all of them ripen at the same time and although good breeders should sort out any undeveloped seeds before dispatch, inevitably a couple can slip through. I say give them a go.
