Don’t worry about the brand….you’ll find several brands of filler, that are the same. I just pulled the above image from the google machine
got one on the way to me. as soon as it arrives I'll try a batch by your method, seems like an afternoon's work.Don’t worry about the brand….you’ll find several brands of filler, that are the same. I just pulled the above image from the google machine
Word to the wise….don’t just dump a bunch of weed into your blender or food processor and turn on high. If you overheat the mixture by blending too long, you’ll end up with a rock solid ring of compressed weed and resin stuck to the bottom of your now ruined gadget. Do it in batches, pulsing as you go. It needs to be fine enough that no stems are going to hinder pressing the capsules. You can freeze the powder, or the capsules….but let it/them come up to room temp before opening the well sealed bag you kept in the freezer. Neglect this step and the cold powder will attract condensation and be a clumped mess….and the cold capsules will condensate and begin melting.got one on the way to me. as soon as it arrives I'll try a batch by your method, seems like an afternoon's work.
Thanks again for all the help
Ya, me quoting myself... just wanted to pass along that this was an epic fail. It's at least as important that we share what doesn't work, as what does. The "marinade injector" idea was a nice idea, but since I was using ground up complete buds infused with oil, it clogged, fast. I tried other tools/options/methods, same result. Had the open capsules in a tray, and I made a big mess. Cleaning my capsule machine was a test of my sense of humor. It might work if I had used strained oil, but honestly after this adventure, I don't think I'd try it.So far I've gone down a different somewhat more complicated (than your method) rabbit hole, based on something I read and what appear to be easily obtained tools. It's my understanding that CBD is more easily absorbed by the body when paired with oils. Truth is, I could take one of your capsules and eat a spoonful of peanut butter with it and probably get the same result... but I decided to try decarbing directly into oil for a full flower infusion, and then without straining it, using the whole product in capsules. Apparently using marinade infusion or baking syringes, I can fill trays full of capsules by hand.
You're gonna be picking pieces of weed out of your teeth with chocolates. Warm it. Strain it and press through cheesecloth... Coconut oil is 100% fat, no need to eat more fat with it. Fat content is more for extraction and not really body absorption as the THC and good stuff you want to pull out bonds easier with the high fat contentYa, me quoting myself... just wanted to pass along that this was an epic fail. Next I'll be going with "tried and true" and doing @Frank the Dank 's method, dry and easy. I'll be sure to ingest them with food, or at least something oily/fatty for the increased absorption. The reason for my whole initial exploration was that I don't eat after 6pm (long story), so if I wanted to eat some CBD before bed, I was hoping it would be self-contained and complete with some small amount of the beneficial complementary fat/oil.
Now I've got a block of ground up CBD/G flower saturated with coconut oil I have to figure out what to do with... LOL, we'll figure something out. Chocolates maybe?
I ended out using a coffee grinder, which worked perfectly. I decarb'ed (about) 2oz - 1 each of CBG and CBD - ended out with 54 grams of ground material to work with. In the end, I had 7 grams left unused. So two trays, or 200 pills, used around 47 grams, or .235 grams per capsule.Word to the wise….don’t just dump a bunch of weed into your blender or food processor and turn on high. I've grown a Blue Dream 1:1 and would probably grow again along with a Kraken 1:1. But I would not grow straight CBD bud. I got dozens of strains of that $5 a gram at all the smoke shops. Not worth my limited space and not for me. If I had a bigger space or greenhouse I would grow a few.
Thanks for those thoughts and ideas. I did end out straining it through a strainer, and the resulting oil filled 155 capsules, so that's good. You're gonna be picking pieces of weed out of your teeth with chocolates. Warm it. I've been reading up on bioavailability a bit, and found this article with this quote:Fat content is more for extraction and not really body absorption as the THC and good stuff you want to pull out bonds easier with the high fat content
Right. Just saying you already have the fat in the coconut oil, and don't need to supplement additional fat to itWhile you are correct that fats or alcohol are needed to extract CBD from the flower, apparently the body also benefits from combining fats with the CBD during the digestion/absorption process.
