DIY DIY Peltier Res Cooler

Woww you really did it!! Is there a jimmy rig macgyver badge? Haha jk that looks pro! Excellent choice on the Arctic Silver, was my go-to paste for years.

I love it! When will you test it?

This is some amazing stuff !

Now you made my grow cabinet project even more complicated :)

"but he spit in duh...duh...duh cooluh!"

Ok here's a sample taken during testing. Everything is working fine ...BUT... I think only half the Peltier is working. Part of the hot-side heatsink is warm part is not. Luckily, I have 5 more Peltiers where that one came from. From reading the feedback, it's not unusual to get a dud. Eh, their cheap! I'll give it overnight and if it's a dud, I've got 5 so...una mas a hora!

Res at 3 gallons
Starting temp = 74.3F
the res after 45 minutes
temp = 71.6

how big is the waterblock compared to the peltier? Could you fit 2 waterblocks? (The only thing I see 9 possibly, I may very well be wrong, so I'm speculating.... ) I think the time it took is a sign of not enough heat transfer surface, as well as the peltier not working right. Was the peltier tested without the waterblock attached? I ask just because the thought crossed my mind that it could be a flow issue with the waterblock also. Just something to check.

I Love this project! Your a man after my own heart when it comes to DIY.

Well, you gotta remember, it's a 40x40mm surface area trying to cool 2 (actually) gallons of water at a 1-2 lpm flow rate. For all intents and purposes, it's doing very well. I'll be keeping it around 70'ish anyway. Yeah, I'm sure half the Peltier isn't firing. i'll change it out later and rerun it. I think she gonna do just fine. All else I get the next size up!
:Cool bud:

UPDATE:
I finished modifying one DWC bucket and I've drilled the other and set the grommet. I'm still short 1 valve and 2ea 1/2" thread to 1/2" hose barb fittings away from completion of the RDWC conversion. Five stores out of both.
:cuss:

I'm setting this one up with the buckets on 18" centers between them so they'll be pretty much centered in the tent space and still have plenty of side space as well.
