Defoliate or let it ride?

Thanks. I’m mostly concerned with mold etc. my dehu can’t seem to hold it steady and it’s getting big swings so I’m erring on the dryer end of things at the moment. I’m definitely going to thin up the lower but I don’t want set it back too much or shock it.

How are your temps and humidity?

Hanging around 70 degrees. But the rh has been tough to control. 60% is the goal. I just hooked up a drain hose so I don’t have to empty the bucket. It filled up this morning while I was at work and it shot up to 90 %. So not great. Slowly dialing in but it’s giving me fits. Seems to just swing all over.

That's too cold - 78-84f would be better. Raise your temperature where you can be steady and let me know how your RH sits over a day or two.

Will do. I recently had to move the whole operation to the bsmt from upstairs. So it’s been a little cooler for sure. Thanks. I’m enjoying the hell out of this hobby but it’s a little nerve racking at times. Last year I lost my whole garden to bud rot (outdoors) at least the ones that survived the woodchuck.

I don't think you need to prune anything as far as defoliation but you could trim the lowers a bit. You do need to make sure you have adequate air flow to minimize the risk of mold but keeping your temperature and humidity constant is a larger help. Large, 15+ swings in either direction can cause mold.

You could defoliate but that is removing your solar panels and adding unnecessary stress. Trimming afew inches from the bottom up where larfy weed will grow anyway would be the extent of it for me. Also your past the stretch, I think you could super crop branches out of the way but I don't think you need to do anything else at this point.
trimming the lowers is defoliation.... defoliation=taking leaves off

oh yeah man its one of the funnest but that reward comes with serious risk lol
nothing wrong with cool temps in summer, keep doin what your doin, your plants look very healthy and happy! plus when u hit flower they be happy for the cool weather ( tighter buds with more color)

I disagree.

Pruning is how I shape my plants to maintain a certain uniformity while reducing the amount of larfy product I get at harvest. Also how I shape my mothers and take cuttings.

Defoliation is selectively removing fan leaves for the erroneous belief in improved yield, air circulation(minimize microclimates), mold prevention(VPD), and because it feels good I guess.

I'm suggesting to the OP that they prune the thin, lanky stuff towards the bottom that isn't likely to produce much more than larf. Branches n all.

I feel yah, its all pruning to me.

I agree, all that lower shits trash that'll never see the light of day.
