Let's see... This is my perpetual SOG trying flood and drain with coco. Got put on to flood and drain a few years ago with a different medium and switched from coco. I like the overall water efficiency with f&d but also keeping the plants elevated, it's comfortable for me. Going back to coco after a horrible bug infestation in the other medium that I could not get rid of. Transplanted five plants to coco I had from years ago and they all have begun showing roots at the bottom so I'll continue in coco.

Currently vegging everything in a 5x5 tent under a dimmed 480w bridgelux fixture. I like the size so I think I'll keep everything in here for veg. Once everything is grown, I'll swap to the 4x4 to flower everything but I need to purchase light+fr initiator/fans+exhaust/filter. Spoken extensively with GrowlightAustralia(eventually) and one of their 480w Highlights with a string of Far Red Buddies, tent fans, and exhaust+filter from AC Infinity. I'd like to get 10x 5 gallon from Rain Science and the flower tent will be good to go.

Right now I'm bottom feeding all the plants in trays. The two pots under the dome are chocolate cheese(L) and an Iranian landrace(R). The pot with 3 plants is Diesel Deluxe by La Buena Hierba with Copa Haze and Panama have to either the left or right. Not sure who is who on that.

Using Botanicare's Liquid karma and Pure Blend Pro Bloom with Growpito Beneficials, fulvic acid, CalMag, and silica for now. Close to running out of PBP but I have left over MC 2PT that I can but would rather not use. Mixing Ro water and nutes to a .7EC and 5.9ph. I have humidity and temperature controllers but I mainly use them to check against my appliances. I run a whole room humidifier instead of inside the tent as it is easier to fill, saves space, and works better than generating humidity inside a tent. Doing this for over a year now with consistent 55-60% from AIRCARE's 6 gallon unit.

Everything is going to veg out for at least a month or two so that I can get cuts to flower so I have more time to buy everything. In the mean time I can focus on getting my Fuji camera for macros and stuff. I've started working again as a head grower so a cash flow is going to be really nice.

Talking with my wife, I realized how much I love the spectrum of CMH - 96cri at 2.0umols, older technology but there are only two or three comparable light systems that are exponentially more expensive for 2.8-3.0 umols. The best part is CMH have adequate levels of UVA, 660, and 730nm, so I'll only need the FR initiator which I may get from Rapid.

So the 4x4 could be be 1-2x 315cmh with the 480w bridgelux repurposed as side lighting. It will 3x strips per side, mounted to aluminum flat bar(everything will be dimmed at least 50%), with 6" of space per. I want to see how much extra weight can be gained with side lighting though I won't be able to foliar anymore. A lot of lost height this way and more heat than I've dealt with in awhile. Maybe I can get away with one CMH.

Chocolate Cheese - Veg - Day 2
I set the two 315s up to see how warm it got but without an AC, flowering won't happen for a month or two. Fingers crossed for some GLA Highlights in the veg tent though I think I'll do a 90cri 4000k bridgelux+FR for my shelving with the bonsai moms. I'll get some trays, new racking and a few Dewey Mister buckets for clones. Not giving up on the SOG technique yet, I think 45oz per square meter is possible.

Chocolate Cheese is popping up, I planted 17, but I can't remember who the breeder was. Escobar? The Iranian haven't germinated yet but no doubt with the way the cheese came up. Glad to finally figure out I wasn't planting seeds deep enough to remove the shell, I'm guessing the extra moisture makes that easy.

Bottom feeding has kept the Coco moist in the other pots with no detriment to plants sitting in solution for over 12 hours. Funny thing is I remember finding a Wandering Jew cutting that my wife missed, sitting in a 30g reservoir covered in roots. Reservoir wasn't aerated but the cutting was more than alive. Anyways, the Coco has dried just a bit at the top but weight feels the same, and the pots are moist. Every transplant is growing well and I'm going to let them grow around 4-8 nodes more before I take some cuttings for new mothers. Cuttings flower faster than seeds and reach pre flower faster.

Chocolate Cheese is going to take some time as these are regs but I'll have plenty to clone maybe find a keeper. Initial growth is looking really good with that perfect green color and maybe in a week I'll be ready to transplant them into 2" nursery pots. If everything aligns, vowed not to accept any more free seeds, I may flower these before the end of the year.

La Buena Hierba Transplant - Veg - Day 5
Roots are coming through on two of the pots, nodes are lengthening, and there is a dramatic difference in the pliability of the new growth. The old growth turned hard quickly and has red striping whereas the new growth is green.

The pest really messed up my last grow medium with such a noticeable difference in growth. Come October, I'd love to have 45 cuts rooted and ready to flower to really pack the table in. I set the 4x4 up with both CMH and combined the ducting with the 5x5 to push that excess heat into the veg tent.

CutterAU is selling kits with drivers and everything minus heatsinks for 2.6+umol builds. Definitely considering their 4x4 2700k 98cri kits for under 450 and a 4000k veg kit for 270. I believe they even add custom monos - UVA+B and a separate strip for FR initiation. I love the highlights from GLA but still expensive and everything else is a trade off on spectrum.

Chocolate Cheese/La Buena Hierba - Veg - Day 5/8
I think these chocolate Cheese are by Eskobar, maybe but only six have germinated thus far. Two germinated and proceeded to die but there are still 15 to go.

All these LBH are doing better aside from the small one but I'm not trying to save lives right now. Whatever is ready to clone will be in a day or two with hopefully better starts in coco.

I made a wise decision not accepting anymore free seeds cause I can't commit. Excited for the cloning, favorite part, with some Rhizopon AA powder but even more excited once I have aero systems again. It has been a long time since I've hit 2# so hopefully I'll exceed that if I can get decent mothers to SOG.

Chocolate Cheese/La Buena Hierba - Veg - Day 10/13
Chocolate cheese aren't where I hoped they would be but I'm not overly concerned since they are regs. Not too interested in separating males from females. Maybe the pot was a bit large to start in.

Everything was topped for a clone except for one plant that is trying to flower at 18/6. It has been a runt it's whole life and may get removed. A clone of one of the unknown LBH strains took root so I may end up with a mother or two.

Grow job has really shown me how important sanitation is. Grow tents just aren't where it's at in regards to cleanliness but there aren't really alternatives. Having fun dealing with all the plants but it's essentially like being a janitor to the plants.

Intending to remodel my room with less clutter, wall mount broom/Swiffer, mixing tubs, water tanks, floors/paint, ac/heat, etc. Freeze dryer would be nice but in the mean time racking in the closet to dry, sanidate to clean tools/surfaces, table to work on, scissors, and a mini fridge lol. I think I'll end up building a grow cabinet rather than going for another tent so I can remain cleaner with something much more suitable to my needs.

The unknown LBH strain took to the topping very well and gave be five branches to clone. Trimmed her back hard(other clones in another pot) and watered everything. Threw them in the tray with a dome and I'll check back on them next week. The LBH DD is not ready to clone but I'm not liking the growth overall of any of those three plants.

La Buena Hierba Clones Cut - Day 1
I have a little bit of every LBH plant here, cut and dipped in Rhizopon AA and Growpito Beneficials. None of these are really big or thick cuts however many of these plants are still recovering from the last media.

20210823_183728(1).jpg

LBH 1 cutting has developed a callus, cut a few days ago, turning nice and yellow.

20210823_183703(1).jpg

I'll check back in a week, one cut was floppy or lacking in turgor but overall high hopes everything turns out.

La Buena Hierba Clones Cut - Day 5/CC+LBH Veg Day 16/19
The babies are prosperous thus far with a 10min dome removal to help harden off. Fun fact - the water that is transpired from the cuttings is pure enough to be caustic, and if it remains in the leaves it will leach nutrients. Can't wait to try this again with larger clones, I enjoy this more than any other part of growing.

I was able to borrow a PAR meter again and brought my lights down a bit. Growth improved so yay... Anyways, chocolate Cheese improved as well with the light being dimmed but the bigger issue was that I just used too large of a pot. A shame I only got about 4/17 but I don't know their age.

The LBH are all doing well with the exception of 1/3 of the Diesel Deluxe that is stuck in a state of "flower". I assuming the fast part of it's genetics and all the stress pre transplant have it like this. I'm going to wait for about 4+ new nodes of growth so secondary and tertiary branches can grow.
