I misstated & indeed got them crossed in terminology - I'm still a novice on getting my timing down on when to chop so take my words as a grain of salt
I am still learning too

Touché!I like to wait until the calyxes are swollen nice and fat and the pistils have turned mostly Brown.

Fine specimen! Cheers!Day 63 - I did take the top of this Heisenberg Special on day 58. This is what is left on day 63. I will show the other plant in the next set of pictures.

I agree with everything you stated and I'm LMAO @ "heart attack weed"! You are on the money with taking some sativa strains too early and it causing more than paranoia! Sometimes it speeds your heart rate up so much that you wish/hope/pray that high will go away! Love the details and insight, great reply and follow up!hey mon! I think Farmer Dee summed it up well,.. the graphics are good too,... So, leaves and pistils are good makers to watch, more to tell you when to start scoping trich's than by themselves as indicators of harvest points and ripeness,.. lots of variability between plants/grows with them,... environmental conditions play a big role in this too,.. by harvest there will be a few to some new flower bracts (calyxes) forming up at the tips of the florets, and the white hairs on them,.. ignore them! When I assess trichomes, I look only at bud sites, and on several places on the plant,.. you want an overall assessment, as best you can,... basically, clear = immature; cloudy = ripe, peak potency; amber = THC degradation has begun,... yes, CBN gives a narco-sleepy effect, but always keep the terpenes in mind for this too, they have as much if not more to do with the high as the cannabinoids! Myrcene, linalool, some others are definitely 'relaxing/sleepy", while piney and citrus ones are more uplifting, invigorating,.. it's all a very complex blend of components and effects, the so-called entourage effect! ...... So, if you have say, an Indica dom plant which will likely be couch-locky as is, maybe don't let it get much amber (over 20%-ish) unless you want such narco-heavy wool-headed affect,.. functional but relaxing, go less than say, 10%,... (these are just for examples' sake guys, not gospel!),... I've had deeply ambered bud before, and personally, i dislike the foggy narco-buzz this gives, only good for sleep IMO... ... The other side of the coin, say you have a Sativa dom plant, some of which (like Sour Diesel) can very straight-up jittery and twitchy if taken too soon (here, in some strains, there can be other rarer cannabinoids that influence the high's nature, if not actually intoxicating, like THCV,.... in combo, they can be like bad biker speed!
), and other terpenes that may not be in the same balance as when taken later,.. clear trich's often have them, less when they turn cloudy,... Anyway, point there is on some sativa's, mellowing them by letting them ripen deeper than nearly all cloudy, minimal amber will reduce these jitters some, as will cure time,... I took an Acapulco Gold on the early side last year, and for the first month, that shit was heart-attack weed!
- racy as hell,.. she mellowed out very well after that, and gave a great active trippy high, no more jitters,... Asian and African strains are notorious for unusual nuances to their highs,... other Sati's, like Lambsbread, can be fabulously mellow, happy easy-does-it buzz w/o the jitters, at all cloudy,... And lastly, yes, ambering may be stubborn, slow to form, and won't until the bud is well past ripe for terpene profile, and other quality aspects,... but usually, outdoors, i find ambering to happen fairly fast,.. weather plays a role her with this, less so indoors,... keep in mind, some ambering will continue as bud dries and cures, and of course, more and more over time depending on how well you store the weed! I keep my longer term bud around 55% RH, not 62, which seems to fade out faster when that high,... cool/cold, dark , minimal exposure to O2 (no jar sniffing in excess!
leave the long term stuff alone),... airtight jars can be more of an issue than one thinks too,.. those lids and caps were made for canning, which involves high temps at first, then cooling contracting air inside, sucking the caps down and sealing,.. without that, they may not be airtight,.. test by putting your jar in a turkey bag, seal up, and let it sit for a few hours,.. open and sniff! I found using the caps with the white plastic screw-on lids on top will compress the cap down better than the band lids do,....

I'm so impatient but this is exactly what I strive for! Good advice!I like to wait until the calyxes are swollen nice and fat and the pistils have turned mostly Brown.
