@Pops

very nice mate! lovely looking gal!

Hey guy. Got a question here for the ones who savvy with electric consumption because I'm fucking clueless haha.

I'm thinking of getting surge protectors to use on the ballasts and I'm wondering is this safe too do because of the obvious consumption and the fact I'll be using a timer.

Cheers

Yes it is quite safe, but will make little change to energy usage, or actually even make them consume more energy. If you are trying to make sure they don't go out at all, what you want is a battery backup. For 800 watts you can use most any surge suppressor, but all they do is break the circuit with over current. For backup purposes you need a battery bank that store at least 1000 watt hours to run two 400's for an hour. Hoping the power comes back quickly. If a surge suppressor flips off, no more light.

I use one that is both a surge suppressor and a timer. I am not worried about backup power, but if I was leaving for three weeks often enough I would.

Thanks for getting back to me. I'm going away in three weeks for eight days so i won't be away long. TBH I'm more concerned of fire starting while I'm away than losing light. If the lights do go out I'd much rather come back to a dead crop than no house haha. Ok cool, cheers for the advice mate. Many thanks

Living a very human life brotha. Thats the world i live in. The one where i see someone living in nature. I'm shocked lol. I look at it like its impossible lol. But then i think about it. Stoned thinking. I wonder. How much happier humans would be with having to forage and live off the land.
It has to be rewarding and naturally would gain a much different respect and appreciation for the world it self.
I don't even appreciate my damned internet provider lmao. I highly respect you trail. You're an animal. In a very pro human kinda way. Cheers bro.

thanks for the Juice grobro!
I've always felt
real misery begins
when humans turn their backs
to the land

This is my ultimate plan and the wife is somewhat on-board!! We want to own a place that has land and very few neighbors, but is still sort of within commuting distance to a relatively populated area for supplies and such.. During the warm months, we'll grow a veggie garden and of course canna... I've been getting back into hunting, but not the sport; purely for sustainment, and I can use the majority of large animals for things, and birds become sort of a treat.. I'm sick of relying on others for things, so it's time to become self-sufficient and self-sustaining..

Amazingly still have a snazzy plant going in the sunroom

Looking awesome!!!! Looks like it's just about done, too!!!!! Great thing to come home to!!

Hey guy. Got a question here for the ones who savvy with electric consumption because I'm fucking clueless haha.

I'm going on holidays in about three and I wanna keep my grow going while I'm away. This isn't ideal but a needs must ya know? I'm thinking of getting surge protectors to use on the ballasts and I'm wondering is this safe too do because of the obvious consumption and the fact I'll be using a timer.

So it will plugged into the wall like this;

Ballast plug into timer into surge protector.

I'll be using two digital ballasts dimmed down to 400 w.

Cheers

Absolutely!!! I use a similar route; power-supply-> Surge Protected power strip->timers->lights.. That way, if we had a surge, I lose the $20 power strip and save the ballasts/lights/fans.. Try to always put the surge protector first, and then add stuff to it, as that will give you a bit of insurance.. Nothing beats having an automated fire-suppression system as well, but not everyone can obtain or afford one, so if you can eliminate as many variables as possible, you give yourself a better chance!!

Enjoy your holiday!!!
