The currency nick names I always got a kick out of are the Canadian. They have a loon on the one dollar coin so it's called the looney and then the two dollar coin was a twoney (2-knee).

Grew up in the San francesco bay area, I'm the late 70's forward...when I first started buying weed it was lids. The term seemed to be loosely used as I've seen mason jar lids, tabbaco lids and a couple others used. Came out to about a half oz usually. But most adjusted price to reflect the size of the lid used. I never liked purchasing by volume...I prefer weight, to many shenanigans. Ahhh who the hell am I kidding... I've always hated purchasing something that can be grown with a little effort.

I remember the first time I grew, was around 2000-2001. I got about 4 ounces of 'hey not bad' dope first time. Second time, half pound of 'that's pretty good'.

There's a gag about the best weed you'll ever have is the one you've got, which in prohibition, is a little dark.

I got a lb+ off of 7 autos this year, it hits like a hammer and it cost maybe $250 to do. Could prob cut that by 40% if I paid more attention.

you'll also hear loon, deuce, toon.

in golf, we've got your standard birdie, par, bogey, then a hockey stick (7), a snowman (8), a Gordie Howe (9), and a moose (10). Might be common more places, or just regional tho.

So here's a short but funny(ish) weed terminology story. Waaay back when before I had ever smoked or knew anyone who smoked or really been around it at all I had of course heard the phrase "smoking a bowl". Having no idea what it really meant, but always having heard it in reference to groups doing it I always pictured a group of folks sitting around smoking a cereal or salad bowl sized bowl or something along those lines of Mary Jane. :smoking:

first time I ever heard the term 'lid' was from a cheech and chong album I think. Late 70's ish.

Also, another weed term I knew was 'OG'. I always understood it to be 'overgrow', as in overgrow.com. I did a diy thread in there when I built a grow tent with 1/2" gas pipe from home depot about 16 years ago The original 'og kush' was named as a reference to the site, so my crappy memory tells me.

My ex gal always knew it as 'ocean grown', and looking it up, some ppl say it's 'original ganster'.

Either or....fun stoner stuff.
