Ya I don't go myself. I commend those that it works for. Depending on the counselor, some are self righteous pricks, but you don't have to be religious. Buddy of mine goes and they don't mind that he doesn't believe in religion, the principles still apply. I can't go talking about drinking with a bunch of folks it makes me want to drink. Lol I do have people I can confide in (sponsors). Hell some of em don't even know it lol The AAA is just something i made up. Assess, Adapt, Accel.
AA works in mysterious ways. The majority of the 'steps' are about acceptance and forgiveness. That is some powerful stuff if you are open to it. That being said, I disagree that alcoholism is a disease, and I disagree that anyone is powerless to make changes in their life no matter how hard they may seem.. I straight up reject that notion, as good as the other parts of AA are, I cannot forgive that lapse in judgement. Isn't that what AA is for anyway? to gain self control, priorities, and direction?
How does that work? I mean, if you are powerless, how does any of that work? If it wasnt your actions that got you there, but a disease, how does that work? What was the point of AA again? That's right, to help you decide to stop drinking.
