The pike are harder to come by around here. Half the time, when you catch them it's on a goldfish on the edge of an eddy or by a downed tree... Unless you go 30 miles north of me. They'll hit shad raps and husky jerks, clear spooks and bluegill colored squarebills sometimes.
Never see any pike over 4' long around here anymore. 20 years ago, You'd pull them in left and right.

Come here!! Pike heaven! On a good day in the spring we usually can catch 20 fish per angler over 30" in length...usually catch a few 40" northerns in a season. Leave the medium action rods at home for those! ;)

Layer hens are quite varied depending on variety....we actually hatch out our own laying hens, so we just buy fertile eggs.(not cheap for the fancy varieties!!)

We were going to keep hatchings but it is what you do with all the males.....we haven't quite got our heads around killing them yet....

Good morning ? Stoners, Mossy, the farm looks great.

Afternoon @Feenix :bighug:..that's coz I only show you the nice bits.....:coffee:..I don't show you the weeds...

Everything I have is either heavy, or medium heavy... Or an Ugly Stik. Been using the same Ugly Stik for 20 something years now lol.
I've had white bass and hybrids hit so hard and fast they'll snap a pole if you've got heavy line on it, So I use catfish poles with 30lb braid for everything now, unless I'm under the dam.

Yeah its a shit way to go...but we cull the males. Feed them to our 2 dogs and i keep the feathers for fly tying for making fishing lures.

Because i fish for such a variety of species in very different situations, i need an assortment of rods and line weights....I run braid on all of my setups 6lb-30lb, but the majority of the time i use 10-20lb braid.

Looking for shrooms, look for cows and hope Spanish farmers are more friendly than ours towards the swarm of city folk who show up in their fields looking in their cow pattys.

Suposed to be in and around the pine forests over here..but we have tramped them all seasons and never spotted one...

Whats growing in the field in the background?

Alfalfa...:headbang:..local farmer uses the land...he pays for the agricultural water...so we get our garden water for nothing except the price of the lecky to pump it..

I've got a 12' surf rod I used when I lived on the coast that I love using for pan fish lmao.
Throw some 4lb line on there, and it feels like that 1/4 fish is a friggin' blue whale haha
Around here, You only need 2 or 3 poles unless you're fly fishing. I've got a 6'6" Ugly Stik I use for smaller stuff (pan fish, mainly) and two 7' cat poles I use for everything else. One's got 30lb braid, the other's got 80lb.
And of course my 12' bluegill pole lmao

Comes with self sufficiency...or you will be vegetarian......we need to toughen up..
by the time we are able to tell sex..when they crow..hubby has grown attached to them...:pighug:
