View attachment 848424 A shoot to @BigSm0 Lights arrived today in good order Well package . I'm thrilled and a bonus for me no import duties or taxes !! Which goes to show if you purchase from the U.S.A. see if you can your goods shipped by USPS. Move over boys we got some serious ammo now .
Thanks again Big I love them . :bighug: .

You're gonna love them Bear!!!!! I've got 6 of them and they cover a lot of area!!!!! I am ordering a couple more in the next couple weeks to expand my area further.. Big changes coming to my room..

Is there an AFN discount? I probably won't buy any until I can get a tent (fingers crossed within a few months), but I just can't justify the price until I get a couple successful grows in.

So I have to throw this out there, because I had some similar trains of thought when I first started growing.. Yes, probably not a good idea to spend a ton of money at first, if you find out after a grow or 2 that it's just not for you.. I also understand that there are a lot of "bells and whistles" out there in the LED market.. Many of them are somewhat clever, but most of them are just "Good" for growing.. If you KNOW that you're gonna grow for a little while, investing in one of the most important parts of the grow is one of the best moves you can do.. Remember, water, grow medium, food, LIGHT.. You control all of those variables indoors.. If you want quality, it takes a little time and practice.. If you to learn more about growing and less about what lights will work for you, the AutoCOBs, or even one of the DIY COB kits, would be on of the best investments possible.. Kinda pricey, initially, but let's take a look:

Blurple lights only typically last about a year of regular auto growing.. The 3w and 5w diodes are cheap, and the panels aren't exactly made with the highest grade materials.. You get good, bright light, but it's not a complete spectrum, not to mention don't have THAT great of electrical efficiency..

HID Lights are GREAT for light, lots of power, full spectrums and the starter kits aren't all that expensive, except for when you start throwing in cool tubes, because your area is too warm, and now you need a fan for the light.. Oh, good bulbs are $80+ and SHOULD be changed every 6 months of regular growing.. Also, wicked inefficient when it comes to electricity not just because the best lights run at 600w or greater, you have to get rid of the heat, AND the plants simply touching them can kick off a fire..

If I could have had COBs from the beginning, I don't think I would've tried anything else.. I still run HPS, but I run it at a lower wattage, primarily for the light spectrum..

Well one measly 2 pound whitefish caught today!! Having a tough time on the big lake!! Heading out wednesday...we got a hot tip on a new spot to fish, but we need machines to go that far!! So gearing up and heading out wednesday again! Mmm whiteifsh for dinner tonight!! Great day out on the frozen water!!
another D in paradise, good luck wed!

Blurple might be a bit inefficient, but in my experience the 3w models can grow some fine plants!! The first grow i did i pulled hmmm .7GPW...not exceptional, but not too shabby, for $100 lights

Now I'm hungry for some fish n chips and maybe some pickled herring. I wish you the best of luck when you go out this Wednesday.

I must also caveat though, that they do have merits, however when I used Mars II panels, I had bought them about a year a part, and when I fired them up next to each other, you could see a noticeable difference in the overall output of the 2nd panel.. Both were identical in terms of components and even diode placement, so I know I could count on those results.. At the time though, the Mars IIs, were over $200.. Prices have come down quite a bit, but after having grown with all of the types of lights thus far (started out with CFLs), I can safely say that you get the most bang-for-your-buck with COB LEDs, not to mention, you can swap out chips for different color temperatures..

Do you have a light meter, and if so, what are you getting for readings at your canopy?? Just wondering for my own purposes.. I know there are a handful of blurples that perform well, but like I said, I feel those diodes do lose their might after only a few thousand hours.. I run mine at 19/5, and if I do some quick math, it's just under 7000hrs of run time..

Anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's possible now with some of the current COBs, to outperform even the blurples with GPW, since they run higher PAR/Lumens than blurples, at a much higher efficiency.. However, Chinese blurples are cheap enough that you could literally swap them out yearly, at not much of a cost..

Yeah, actually I think they last longer then a year... I had mine for a few years now and it's still going strong, no led's burned out as of yet, not to shabby for cheapy chin led...I have a cheapy 3w leds --156w at wall & a Meizhi 600w Reflector led, I simply love... that is 290w at wall, with 5w leds that things gets some serious penetration.. It will hold plant back if keep to close.. It happened to me first time using it..
