Yep, take a Ppm reading of your tap water. When the RO output water measures approx 7% of the tap water its time to change the membrane. When the RO output starts to rise from 0-2ppm it’s time to change your prefilters. Prefilters will get full of particulate and if you don’t change them, they will unload into the RO membrane and ruin it prematurely.I've got a ton of pics of them though, the two biggest are at about 2ft from dirt and really starting to fill out nicely. I also just switched to RO because my local water now uses chloramines. Any pointers for using RO I'm all ears.
When you change the prefilters be sure to flush the carbon filters with the outlet of the carbon filter going down the drain. You will see a ton of carbon flush out of it, you do not want that carbon flush to go into the membrane or it will ruin it guaranteed.
One last thing, if you pH RO water go very slowly with the pH Up or Down, with nothing to buffer left in the water it will change pH very easily.
