Copacabana

Thanks for the info hecno. You probably know Zamaldelica has both the Golden tiger and Malawi in it. I'm looking forward to growing it some day.

I have only been growing a couple of years. I didn't start reading about the history of Stitch until I'd already grown some of his seeds. I first picked his seeds because they were one of the few regular male / female autos available.

Here are the Copacabana at the end of September just before I brought them under a roof. It's been raining pretty steady since then with pretty constant humidity.

I had to chop off a couple of top Copacabana branches today. They had an infestation of what I think are mites.
If you look at the picture above you can see a yellow, brownish color to the stem of the top branch on the right.
I bought a container of ladybugs and green lacewings a week or so ago to try and get rid of them.
Unfortunately I think all my green lacewing eggs were dead when I bought them. The bti doesn't seem to bother the mites.
There are still ladybugs living in my plants and the mites have been reduced but I could see the damage they had done to a couple of branches.
Under the microscope the calyxes coming off the branch have a nasty, moldy looking brown layer. I believe the bugs secrete a nastiness on the plant which causes this.

So the Copacabanas are still finishing. Much stickier and the resin has spread further.
My fingers smell of a wonderful earthy lime zest after pulling apart a couple of branches.
I wish I had the patience to make charas.
Trichomes still have a bit of clearness, with the majority milky and a hint at amber here and there.
Pistils seem to mature regionally on the plant. One branch may be all red pistils and another all yellow pistils with many branches a mix of the two.
I thought today might be the day but I should be cutting one of these plants in the next few days.

I lost the top cola on my photoperiod plant today. The poor thing has her head up against my patio ceiling and just exploded in mold.

It was a topped plant so maybe the other top cola will make it.

Good lawd my friend, looks big. I'd probably start doing at least some selective harvesting of branches before any mold tries to set in. The size is certainly impressive. ..hope you like them.

They are good sized for autos. What's also impressive to me is that I cut off four big bottom branches from both plants when they were in veg. The buds are going to be quite light I'm sure. When I look at these plants I imagine a sativa landrace growing wild in the hills.

I'm not looking for quantity in these plants. I'm more interested in getting a baseline on some sativa autos. I've tried to keep added nutrients to a minimum.
I'd like to find strains that do well just growing in soil without much additions.

VERY WET HERE!

Rains suck here in the Portland area. As a rule, you have to harvest by Oct 1st might get lucky and get up until the 5th. That being said, I tried one of their super auto's Muay Thai. Came out about what you had there. Fairly decent weed and I got about 1 1/2 lbs buddage and some good shake buds for cooking with. The Nice thing about these auto's to me is, if you plant them 4/1 you should be taking them down the 1st week of sept, afew weeks before the humidity rises and comes a rain to germinate all them mold spores. My auto ended up just shy of 12'. You don't gain anything in te way of time with these, but you can plan when your going to harvest. A nice thing about these autos is if you threw it outside early, she won't start to flower and then have to reveg and flower all over. Seeing they aren't on that photo cycle the early spring lengths of days won't hinder ya. I put mine out 4/20 this year and cut 9/20. She was well done at 150 days. Pretty plants you grew out, bummer bout the mold but you seemed to hang in tough there and got yours in with minimal loses. Congrat's
I'm going to do a super chaze and another Muay Thai, next year, they also gifted me some Number One autos too, to work with. Once ore nice harvest Keepem Green

Hello Norcaliwood, good information you posted above. Muay Thai is next up on my list. I do like the autos because I have streetlights that delay my photoperiod plants starting to flower. Not sure why these Copacabanas have gone so long.

I've harvested the top two thirds of the one copa in the pictures above. The other copa will be harvested soon. Despite my bitching early on about the plants molding easily, I think most of that was due to caterpillars. Since they've been out of the direct rain they really haven't caught any significant mold.

It's been very interesting harvesting this plant. Very different plant structure to work with. Most of the pruning has been defoliating. I've just been plucking the leaves off by hand till I get right down to the bud. It is amazing how many of the leaves look like they have no resin on them at all (and there are lots of leaves.) This plant is not a big resin producer.

I'll get some pictures posted in a couple of days.

Hey Mediscrogs, things are finally moving along.

I've been busy harvesting when I can in between work, but I actually just started harvesting the second Copacabana yesterday (day 198.) I started harvesting this one ten days after the first one. Its been doing fine sitting in my garage with minimal natural and incandescent light and a fan. Almost no mold on it and this one looks much better to me. The buds on the second plant are more full and heavy but still very sativa structure. The trichomes on this one look much closer to what I was looking for. I should get it down completely in the next few days. Then I can post some pictures.

I looked at that Honduras sativa description. Sounds interesting and scary! I've got some Tikal seeds which have Guatemalan in them. I will have to have a greenhouse at my next grow location because it is just so wet there. I wish I had one here with all of our fall rain!

Hope you're doing well and enjoying the fruits of your labors!
