Ever since I heard that Dutch Passion were going to release some new Auto strains, I just couldn't wait to get my hands on some.
Think Big, Daiquiri Lime, Colorado Cookies, Blackberry Kush, Auto Night Queen....... all arrived stealth delivery via Seedsman.... impressive job.
As soon as I chopped my Blue Automazar from my previous grow, I had a bit of space in the tent, time to start again!
What to choose????
Straight off, it has to be AutoColorado Cookies..... a cross of a successful DP Autoblueberry with the legendary US strain Girl Scout Cookies. DP hoped to combine the potency and yield of the ABB with the (sweet tropical mango) taste of the GSC to give a flavoursome Indica dominant smoke with an XL yield.
Next I chose AutoDaiquiri Lime, again one that caught my eye the moment I heard the news. It's a cross of a sharp citrussy lime flavoured phenotype of DP California Orange and a resinous US Sour Diesel resulting in a Sativa dominant XXL harvest with a rich fruity/diesel aroma and a fresh sour taste.
Finally Auto Blackberry Kush, a hard hitting Indica dominant with an earthy but sweet fruity taste. The opportunity to grow an XL amount of sticky purple bud was impossible to resist!
I planted one of each in separate 5L airpots, with 100% Canna Coco Professional Plus soaked in an EC 0.7 nutrient solution (made up of EC 0.5 Base nutrient with 0.3ml/L Roots Excellurator and 0.1ml/L Nitrogen). I don't pre soak seeds, or leave them in wet tissue paper etc.... I just plant direct, cover with clingfilm and dark cardboard, and it works 100% of the time.
Seeds planted on 17th April, all 3 broke the surface of the Coco on 20th April..... day 1 on 420, that has to be a good omen?
As it turned out, the Blackberry still had her seed cover on, so after a bit of shaky arseing around, I managed to remove it along with one of the cotyledons. Born on 420, good omen.......
On the positive side I then booked an eye test and have been fitted with some multifocals .
I gave them a light watering on day 1, then left them for 5 days before watering again, the Coco was still slightly moist on the surface, so no need. The Lime and Cookie were neck and neck, and the Blackberry was understandably a little slow in starting off .
After day 5 I watered around the inner perimeter of the pot every couple of days. I used the same nute mix that I used to prepare the pots, so still EC 0.7, pH 5.8. Temps are in the 25-29C region, and the LEDs are on 24/0.
Here they are on day 11, starting with the Blackberry......
Next, the Cookie, looking very healthy.....
and finally the Lime, I can see she's gonna be a big girl already!!
So I hope you can join me on this taste quest......... pull up a pew, skin up, and thanks for popping in!
