I'm getting towards the end of flower for a few of my plants and the smell is getting pretty bad. I noticed the smell the other day when I was outside with my dog but didn't think much of it. Then a friend of mine came over and told me it smells like a grow room as soon as you get near my place. I have almost no money to spend but I need to control the smell somehow. If anyone has any tips that would be awesome! Right now I'm going in my rooms every few hours and spraying Lysol just to keep the smell down a bit. Thanks in advance for all the helpful advice

I know you said you have no money but you can get a carbon filter for cheap enough, you probably already know that but i thought i would just put it out there for ya

You must live in a warm climate. My grow partner and I like doing our bulk grows in the winter when the smell is easier to control. But if you are having colder nights, try opening the windows when the sun goes down. Marijuana smells are not noticed in the cold. This does 2 things, First it airs out your grow room so that it doesn't smell as much durring the day when it's warmer and second the plants themselves smell less after a cold night. Im not talking about freezing your plants, but temps around 55 degrees is ok. Also, try a jar of this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ona-Pro-Gel-1Qt-/121031724240?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c2e0d8cd0 It's called ona. It gets a lot of mixed reviews. Some people love it and some hate it. But it is effective in my opinion.

:bong:people on gc seem to like the gel from home depot...dont remember names or anything sorry...yea what he said:clap:

ona is good, I have one also in my tent, does a good job!

There are various methods (most of which I've tried), but nothing is going to get near a decent Carbon Filter. Sure you don't want to hear it, but mate I'd borrow the money for one before starting any second rate methods. The reason behind this is that all the second rate methods will also cost money, maybe not as much per item, but whatever decision you make you'll probably need multiple things.

ONA blocks in your exhaust can work for a while, but anyone who knows the smell will catch on. Don't get the polar one as you house will smell like a toilet, the other one is a laundry smell.
An ONA bucket with a PC fan in the lid, this is good if you just have a room of plants & no tent etc.
Drying sheets for your washer in the exhaust, cheap but not as effective. Tape them over the end of your ducting (this is assuming you have a small grow).
Vent somewhere else, up the chimney, down in the waste pipes if possible (sewers). Again will take cutting & sealing etc, money, money.
Get to Home Depot etc and see what they have in stock, sometimes they can surprise you.

In the end though - CARBON FILTER. Trust me, I've been through them all & pishing around nearly cost me my growing rights.

Ona is nothing more than a masking agent... and is terrible to breath that chemical shit.... No proof its bad to breath but common sense says so.... A carbon filter of quality brand name is cheaper in the long run and removes all the smell safely and better... its not a cheap cover up... that is expensive as ona...

IMO ONA for health and smell is just bad advice.
