Lighting Cobshop.net info, questions and answers

Hey @BigSm0 and other fine cob growers:pass:
I've got my cob closet fired up to start seedlings for my outdoor/greenhouse grow.
I started with one light at 24" and the seedlings have shown a little too much stretch. I slipped the light down and turned on the second light also. I have the lights at 12" now but I'm assuming that's too close lol. Is there a consensus on spacing for week one? I've never had an indoor grow environment so this is all new to me. I'll be doing a couple rounds of starts in here and I'm planning to take them to @3weeks

I’m not sure how or why this happens early on. I just had the same thing going about a week and a half ago. Now the plants are so short and fat I raised the lights to get them to stretch some. What I have noticed is this usually happens but they quickly catch up with themselves. I’d keep the lights a little higher and wait a few days.

All right, that's good to know. Like I say I'm just getting this tuned up and it's different from anything I've done so the advice is appreciated. I imagine I'll have more questions :pass:

Please feel free to ask away. Should be here a bit more now that the sales are over with.

My starter tent is 2x2x3’ and I have one AutoCOB in it. I had no idea if this would work since the seedlings would be only about 20 inches from the light. So I started with the light in the middle of the tent and using a bungee cord hooked the heatsink so it would be pointing at the side of the tent, rather than directly down on the seedlings. After about a week of this I then needed to add some clones and shifted the light all the way over to one side away from the seedlings and let it point straight down. The clones are under the cloudy piece of plastic on the left in the picture. Between that and the humidity dome that is over them I’m hoping they will do as well as the seedlings. It’s been almost 3 weeks and the pictures show the girls are doing well and they are only about 16” from the light now.

The plants are looking great my friend...thanks for the info, good stuff :pass:

Quick question @BigSm0 did u ever wind up getting a press. And if so which one.
No I haven’t, when I do I’m going with pufftuff.net. Stupidest name ever lol but great prices and some large plates. I’d get the 110v electric one. Compressors are to loud to enjoy the lovely task and the manual ones just seem like a pain.

Thought I'd update here, the plants did indeed fatten up in the second week. They seem real happy to me! The lights have been at @ 20"

Here's a DP Blueberry. I have since raised the lights to 28" (actually just hours ago) and the leaves have already flattened out.

Everyone seems to hang them a different heights. But 20 inches could be too close for seedlings. I have 5 plants at 17 days old and one autocob per plant at 28 inches as well. that seems to be good at this point of their lives. I lower to 20 later on. your plants are looking good.
