Lighting Cobshop.net info, questions and answers

I can see I'm just going to have spend some time playing around with positioning. One thing I can do to increase distance of the autocobs without raising the HPS is to pull the autocobs further away from the plants instead of raising them up. Pull them away on the X axis instead of the Y. I pulled them away further and now the autocobs are 20 inches away from the canopy. But they are not even close to being directly above the plants of course. The HPS lights get that honor I guess.

What I'm not sure about is how will the plants and tops react to a light that is positioned like this. Any ideas?

Here is another picture with the autocobs pulled away from the reflectors more, and now at about 20 inches away from the plants.

Generally people have their lights much higher than you do now. The 600’s are strong and the addition of cobs is adding quite a bit to it. If the plants aren’t responding poorly to it then I’d leave it as it is. I see the issue your having. Is it possible to pull the cobs farther away -(to the left of the last pic) and not go up? This would be the same as raising them as they are angled. If you see stress I’d pull them outward with a steeper angle which would do the same as raising them. This is something I just got done doing myself last week. Usually it’s up and down.

if lights are to close and leaves curl inwards is that bad? in what way is it bad? my hps lights are so cool i can get the really close which i thought was a good thing. but ya i hear u saying people run lights higher than me. but i never saw any unhealthy leaves so i kept the lights close.

2x2 x 5ft tent would you recommend 1 cob or 2 ? Will typically be only one maybe two small plants.

That’s kind of my point in saying you ran your lights closer than most. I assumed your plants were doing fine. If the leaves are curling a bit but healthy then I’d leave it like I am leaving mine. Certain strains do seem to change color before showing any signs of stress and that’s probably to much.

Would you say a 600 watt HPS light would be around the same distance away from a plant as your autocobs? Is that a fair thing to say? Or do you lights need to be further away still?

Rman, one cob will work pretty good, two will get you booming. Use reflectors either way. Cobs are grow-op gold, especially when multiplied.

Lunarman, are you using glass on the 600?

Have you any uk supplier/distributors for your cobs ..? Cheers for any info..
happy growing ,
