Lighting Cobshop.net info, questions and answers

Hey Guys,
I've been reading the forums for a couple of years now, have several indoor grows under my belt with almost every type of light source, I love my DE-HPS, it really puts the trikes and weight on the ladies. I live in an area with all four seasons, leaning towards sub-tropical, so our winter indoor grow season is really short. Heat is just too much of an issue in my last several grows, so I pulled the plug on 2- 3500k cobshop lights, just now. All I can say is....... I sure hope they make enough difference in my grow that it's gonna be worth the ass-chewin' my old lady is going to be giving me for the next month or so.... For spending yet more money on my medicine. Oh, now it's also HER medicine too, so maybe just a couple of weeks. LOL

While I don’t like to hear about someone getting their ass chewed out I assure you the plants will absolutely love the addition. A local east coast grower who has over 40 autocobs now went from full hps to trying a few. It didn’t take long before he started supplementing all his hps lights and now he is even setting up some tents and running them solo. We have already spoke about replacing the hps. It’s great to hear from him especially since his excitement is over the top.

just came in to give a shout out once again to @BigSm0 for the autocobs!! upgraded the set up way faster than expected.

10ft powercord = perfect for my needs.

went from 1 at the end if april to 5 cobs at the end of august..

-----

current set up:

4 cobs in 2x4x60"
1 cob in 2x2x55"

can easily be adjusted to 3 and 2 lights per tent depending on my need thanks to easy single cob set up!

It’s such a beautiful thing. While I can’t get a seed to germinate for some reason I have a shelf dedicated to my spares. Feel like one of those doomsday preppers lol.

Hey BigSmo, good to hear from ya! Yeah, a person just can't deny the results that I have seen online from people using your setups. I know they have the power, I am hoping that as I slowly add to the cob lights I can get my heat levels down in my room. I have a/c, but I'm a tight ass, and I don't like to pay for all of that electricity. Almost makes a person wish he was dishonest, so you "borrow" the electricity. LOL JK

If you don't live in a high humidity location, buy an evaporative cooler. Less costly than a/c. I aim mine at my tents lower screen and the inline fan sucks in the cool air. I don't much care what my grow room temp reads, I only care about lowering tent heat.

The only trouble with borrowing is they will want it back at some point. I actually have a story about this. I guess back in the day they used to have peak and off peak times for people that had electric heat. Right behind the feed to my panel I have a 10/2 wire sitting there waiting to get hooked up bypassing the spinning disk of death lol. Since this hasn’t been used in many years I had called the electric company a few times asking for them to remove it and not once did they seemed concerned. Now it makes it even easier to borrow. The only way to get past the bill is to wait for your area to get into these massive tax incentive solar projects. The next state over from me (Connecticut) Is loaded with solar. While Rhode Island isn’t doing much at all.

Can you run this in flower too? My humidity is the only killer. In flower without a dehumidifier going my RH would hit 100%. The dehumidifier runs a lot and is the only reason my ac has to run.

I run it no matter what age my plants are. With my low humidity, I manage to raise it to 60% in parts of the tent when evap cooler is running. Usually I don't worry about the humidity since the evap cooler mostly runs for just a few hours.

That is crazy to read. It’s good for you though. High Humidity is super expensive.
