What’s the consensus on using the reflectors with the autocobs? I just got my autocobs and ordered the reflectors, and I see pics with some using them and some not, so I’m curious if they are best used at certain stages or when is best?

I did not purchase reflectors with my autocobs and after only a little over a week of use I have branches from the led side of my tent reaching for the autocobs. I like to train my plants for an even canopy so I will most likely never use them. I was sceptical when I first received the lights on what they would cover but that was laid to rest quickly. Thinking I am going to put a pair of them in my shop where they will hang further from the plants and I will most likely experiment with reflectors then. My general experience tells me if I add reflectors I should be able to run my lights higher and hold a similar par value to the lesser distance without the reflectors.

While you may hear different opinions on the benefits of the reflectors I will say that the par meter shows a huge increase. This can be good and bad depending on your situation. Like the lights ideal height it’s really different for every setup. I tell everyone it’s an inexpensive upgrade that can be beneficial. If you need more light they are easy enough to pop on. If you are already seeing stress from to much intensity they shouldn’t be used. The amount they increase the ppfd is significant. Depending on the height these numbers can nearly double.

While I don’t have enough lights for my own space when I’m filled with plants I add the reflectors when I’m a bit under powered. For others an example would be if you had 4 cobs in a 4x4 I’d probably use them. If you had 5 cobs in a 3x3 I’d never consider it.

I’ve played with them and I think BigSm0 was trying to nicely say, is you can fry the crap out of your plants with them if used to close. Of course this would depend on your setup. In an open room with no side reflection I think I would use them all the time. But in a room or tent with plenty of reflectivity I really don’t think they are needed much in veg. In flower though, when the she is in full bloom is when I like to use them. The plants can take a lot more light stress during flower.

I don’t have a par meter but I highly recommend you get a cheap light meter to measure how many lux you are putting on your canopy. That way you can see the difference the reflectors make and adjust accordingly. As with everything Autocob start high! :smoking: I have had an Autocob just 8 inches away from a big cola in the final weeks of flower and it just seemed to love it.

I did a test and found using reflector for veg, the plant grew faster than without. So I use for veg only.
