Hi, LED DIY have caught my attention thanks to this amazing forum!

I plan to make small grow with an auto strain in the near future.
The space will be regular closet about 2'x4' and 6' tal. I also want this to be stealthy, so minimum heat
and slow running fans is a must.
The strain im considering is white cheese - a low, bushy indica, one to two plants at the time.
I want good budsize but nothing special, maby 2oz a grow.

So, to the point:
5 x Citizen CLU048-1212C4-403M2K1 4000K
1 x HLG-240H-C1050A

The voltage range of the meanwell is 119V - 238V.
5 cobs would make 36V x 5 = 180V, well within the range.
This cob run at 1050mA makes 37,8W at 25C.
37,8W x 5 = 189W. Well within 250W.

I assume that the efficiency will be good so passive cooling wont be difficult.
For cooling im thinking an aluminum sheet 2mm thick, 3'x1' with the cobs evenly spaced.
I will be using thermal paste.

So my question is this:
Is this a good, price friendly lighting solution for my needs?
Would you guys change anything?
Will the cobs run cool enough to have a long life, and be efficient?

Might as well use 6 cobs if you are going that route, consider 3000k instead of 4000k. You can always dim the driver so you wont ever have TOO much light. Id go with a little thicker aluminum sheet if you have it available, at least 3 mm.

Good lighting solution, hell yeah!
Price friendly... depends on how deep your pockets go, but you will be saving plenty on your light bill so this is good...
Personally, I would mix it up a little, have like maybe 4 in the 3500k spectrum and then 1 in 3000k and 1 in 4000k?

But in that size grow space, you would be well covered with the lighting department, perhaps get the dimming version of the driver for the early stages of the plant life, cobs are kak powerful for the wattage pulled at the wall. Though based on your post, you seem to have done your homework

I would strongly suggest looking at Bigsm0 grows he is documenting a very nice journal of Mephitso Genetics and Autocob grow, 220watts of cob power in a 4x4 tent

Just make sure you do have good air flow and I would suggest, if you can have a little fan (perhaps a usb one) blowing over your cobs to keep them kak cool.

But you seem to be on the right track.

Definitely a dimmable driver. That's nearly 200w for that low ceiling height which could be a bad situation. Also the heatsink may not like full power either. What about going with 1812's and a 700ma driver. 20-30 dollars to the build cost but more light per watt, again allowing you to lower the dimming knob.

I get a good price for 5 x the same cob.
So 50$ for 5 1212's or 40$ per 1818, so they are out-of-range. So would 4000k be a good choice?

I saw some small heatsinks 60mm x 150mm and 25mm fins, one for each.
As for ventilation im thinking a computer fan exhaust (to a diy coal filter), passive intake.
And a slow running ac fan in the celing of the closet, for both the plant(s) and the lamp.

Yeld-wise, am i delusional to hope for ~2oz?

Thank you so much, you guys are super helpful:-)

4000K are fine as well bro even in flower, heres my girl day 42 budding great so 4000k are fine

I Have wached your stuff 2stoned, and you are rocking:fire:.
Yeah, ive triple checked the 1212s are the only ones with the bulk deal. I could strech so far as to buy 10 and drive them with a 240 700mA for a total of 200w.
But as far as efficiency goes, it seems to me to drop beyond this point? (below 1050 on 1212) i dont know if i can link to the datasheet?

The heatsink im considering, 150mmx60mmx25mm. One for each cob for passive cooling (in a closet with an active fan)

Yes you can stick a data link in bro.i think the more you can drive with lower amps the better the efficiency will be.i am sure you are looking at the same guy i bought mine from on ebay(estonia ?) but he only has the 4000k but they seem to be working great on my girl,if she looks like she needs more red to fill the buds in properly i will just stick my mars 400w(180 actual draw)in the tent as well but i think the 4000k will do just fine
