There is so much information on this site I love it! The more I read the more questions I have lol.

Is there a chart or calculator for comparing different types of lights?

I keep reading people talking about watts , real watts , fake watts etc. But in reality it really comes down to the amount of usable light the plant receives. So a 400 watt whatever could be equal to a 300 watt whatever. The amount of watts used isn't an indicator of anything without more information.

The following numbers are all made up and used just for example.

So is there something that says for example a 100 watt LED with Xμmol/J rating = 200 watt CFL = 250 watt HID as far as actual usuable light put out?

If you have questions as to what I mean please ask, I'm not always greatest at explaining myself.

try going to diyleduk.com it has a good selection of leds with lists for replacing a 400w /600w/etc and for area ppfd charts etc

Shane at Migro tests a ton of lights and usually gives PPFD per watt if that is the measurement you are after.

He reviews tons of lights on that channel and does a good job.

did you see his latest video ripping on that garbage light he got sent :crying::crying::crying:

For practical purposes I'm basically looking for something that makes it easy for me to compare lights of others to my own.

So if I read someone is using whatever I can see how my light setup compares. Just gives me another data point and more understanding in general.

yea he gets visibly angry at the joke of light they sent him .76umol for efficiency half of what a hps is :crying:
I didn't lol... Is it the one where it asks "why is this still on the market" in the title?
