Hey folks


I'm new t the forum n have been posting a few questions so thought it about time I started my own grow journal :-D Exciting times!!


I've not started growing yet... but thought it better t keep all the Q&A in one place.
My first ever grow should be underway within a month me thinks
I'm just waiting f last of my equipment t arrive n then I'm gonna order my seeds. Cream Caramel I'm thinking.


My ex used to grow lovely weed (photoperiod hydro tho, I'm using soil) but I've learnt a lot from him and I've read a ridiculous amount of stuff so I'm pretty confident about starting up.


It's something I've always wanted t do but never had the opportunity and now finally my time has come...
This is my calling! :-D (Hopefully anyways, it might turn out I'm not green-fingered at all n cock it all up)


I've learnt so much more already since joining the forum and I'm eager to learn more.


With your help and guidance I can become the grower I was born t be :-D


I've only got a little setup in my bedroom - 5 maybe 6 plants (my first question right there) :-D


I've got most my stuff, some stuffs on order and some stuff I have yet t get. I shall list them……………………………….……………………………………………..............................................................................

-My grow tent is 120x120x120cm. It has 2 top holes, 1 bottom hole (which all have 2 lots of pull string covers) and 2 bottom flappy vents. And a handy bottom sheet f easy cleaning Happy days.
I have a 4" fan and carbon filter directly attached with silver tape (I did have a jubilee clip f it which I lost but it seems secure enough) hanging at the top of tent with elastic.... things.
Vent attached t the fan is sticking out of one of the top holes and the plugs from the light an fan are going through the other. They all have tightening string things-
-My light is a 600w HPS Sunblaster dual spectrum (another question) and magnetic ballast with a Euro/Batwing Reflector-
-I have 100 litres of canna terra pro (should I add perlite/other things and if so how much?)-
-A bag of Westlands Young Plant Compost-
-My big pots (I tried f bigger but they were the largest in B&Q) are 2 gallon (3.2 US) and I have little peat and plastic pots too (im planning on doing the pot within a pot method)-
-I have scissors, razors, trimmers-
-Thermometer/Hygrometer-
-Timer f 600w-
-Things t hang my lights (forgot I needed them til I went t set up my tent, lol)-
-Pressure sprayer and 6 little sprayers-
-60x100x microscope-
-3 10 litre water containers (planning on using tap water and letting it sit f 24+ hours)-
-I have a PH Tester in the post. Don't know him much cop it's gonna be tho :-/ From what I've been reading its near on impossible t get a decent one for under £30. (Does anyone know if them recalibration things work on the cheap ones? Mine only cost a fiver)-


I ordered my nutrients yesterday.
I’ve got Vega, Flores, Rhizotonic, PK 13/14 and Boost all from the Canna Terra range (£50 f the bunch!... Who doesn't love a bargain!?!)


I contemplated buying a dehumidifier/humidifier but I thought being as I live in England, the grows in my bedroom with easy draught access and the warm weathers on the approach they wouldn't be needed (any ye olde English growers recommend any different then I would appreciate the info)


I shall be drying my first borns in the loft. Planning on just using hangers or a washing line maybe. Does anybody know if them 8 tier drying rack things are any good?


My seeds will be Feminized Cream Caramel Autos.


Still need to get, pipettes, mason jars, brown paper bags, another fan and i think I’m all set.


All my purchases are brand new and unused and set-up ready and raring to go


Pretty sure thats it for the equipment, so i guess thats all the info i can give you for the now.
If anyone can think of anything I’ve forgotten or anything that might come in useful or any other questions/queries then let me know Any input and/or advice will be much appreciated.

1. My pots are 3.2g. 5 fit in my tent with quite a bit o space and 6 very just about fit so should i use 5 or 6 pots?
Id upload a picture but my phone (and my weed and my rizzla and my backy and my money and my last remaining nugget of trust) were stolen at the weekend so it'll probably be about a week before i can take any pics of set-up.

2. Any ideas what i should use the bottom hole in my tent for? Its 7".
Thought id use it for another fan but cant find one the right size so i'll just get a clip on.
Hey t see a good hole go t waste so any tent hole knowledge will be welcome

3. My light is 600w HPS "Dual Spectrum". Do they do what it says on the tin? I read that Auto flowers prefer more of the veg light so do i stick with what i've got or get a light special f the veggie stage?

4. Im using Canna Terra pro for my soils. Should i add more perlite or other extras or leave it be?

5. Im using tap water for my beauts. Whats the best thing for ensuring a proper PH? Should i get PH up/down or use something natural like Lime, etc?

6. Do i need a humidifier/dehumidifier?

7. Are multiple tier drying rack things any cop?

8. Cream Caramel have caught my eye the most but if someone can recommend a different strain ill have a gander.
I want the highest yield possible f the first time so i can recoup the money i've spent and then i don't have to worry about paying for the next grows electric bill.
I also want it taste beautiful and be really potent.
Im also buying Feminized so i don't have any man issues
Again, all your opinions are most welcome.

Answer - I would stick with 5 for now as the plants will grow wider than the pots diameter so if you pack them in tight you will restrict light penetration. Best to give them a little space to grow

Answer - I would use the 7 inch hole at the bottom as a passive intake so cool fresh air is drawn in through that hole as the 4 inch fan blows hotter air out of the top.

Answer - Just like ronseal they do what they say on the tin. you should be fine but if you wanted to add some white light I would recommend getting some t5 cfls, but once you start I think you will find they are unnecessary.

Answer - I am not familiar with this soil so hopefully someone will be along soon to help you on this one

Answer - I would say get some ph up/down. There are organic alternatives but they take a while to stabilise in the feed.(time I haven't got to waste). Also I would recommend you get a fish tank air pump and bubble the water as you let it sit for 24hrs. This will dissolve oxygen into the water and aid growth.

6. Do i need a humidifier/dehumidifier?

Answer - Not really, as long as you have got a good air exchange going on in the tent you should be fine without one. You will experience a rise in humidity for a day when you feed the plants but that soon drops back into the normal range.

7. Are multiple tier drying rack things any cop?

Answer - Yes they are good. Combined with the brown paper bag drying method they perform very well

8. Cream Caramel have caught my eye the most but if someone can recommend a different strain ill have a gander.
I want the highest yield possible f the first time so i can recoup the money i've spent and then i don't have to worry about paying for the next grows electric bill.

Answer - Cream caramel has a great smell when done, like a milky coffee, but its not one of my favourites. We all have different tastes so you will need to try a few strains and find what works for you. For yield, taste and potency I would recommend

Thanks very much f the reply Seraphim. You have indeed helped Ive stuck with the 5 pots, left the spare hole as passive and brought ph up and down. No one replied to me about the perlite so gone ahead without it. Had no money for CFLs so just done it under the 600w HPS but put it t the top of the tent. Ive opted f 5 different stains, gonna be a lot harder work i should imagine but hopefully worth it in the end.... and i like a challenge lol.
Ive opted for Cream Caramel, Think Different (especially for you ) Afghan Kush Ryder, Auto Pounder with Cheese and Pineapple Punch. Started on Sunday and so far so good.


I woke up yesterday to the Cream Caramel poking out and a few hours later the Auto Pounder with Cheese.
FINGERS CROSSED F THE BEST GROW EVERRRRR!! :-D

Not got a camera at the minute since i was robbed but getting a new phone tomorrow hopefully so can start putting pics up

Can someone please advise me how high to keep my grow light (600w HPS) from seedlings? I have 5 and 2 have sprouted so far (yesterday). The Cream Caramel has grown over 2cm already. Tried looking online but cant find any information i would listen to with certainty. At the moment the light is at the top, almost a metre away. Want to avoid stretch and tings but don't want t burn the little chicken nuggets.
Current temp is 72 degrees F (temp taken about an inch above pots) with 52% humidity. Tent is open with window shut.
Im waiting on a fan for in between light and seedlings. Should arrive tomorrow hopefully.
Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.
