Live Stoner Chat Can't smell skunk smell anymore... Nose blind, any ideas?

So... We had house guests inform us that the moment they enter the house it smells like weed. Which was a big surprise to me...

I am running a brand new phresh filter in a 10x10 room upstairs, and that is my only grow space. Fan is pulling probably 200cfm through a new phresh filter rated at 450cfm (which I always understood was ok to run the fan lower then the filter max).

Currently I have only one small plant growing in a 2x2 tent in the grow room.

I noticed that I can no longer smell the skunk smell of weed. At least at my house... When I brought some of my home grown to a friend's house and opened it up after a few hours I was like "Yo wtf... When did this weed get so skunky...?" At my house I can smell all the other terps but apparently I cannot smell skunk smell in my house... I've become immune...

I tripple bagged all weed that exists outside of my grow room and cleaned all the drawers it was in. I tripple bagged all the trim in the freezer.

Some of it is in jars curing in a closet in the grow room.

I'm not sure what to do because if my wife and I both can't smell it, how can I know if we fixed the issue?

Any ideas here? Thanks for reading...

10x10 needs a good size inline fan/filter. What size is the one you are using now a 6"?
Buy a good quality air purifier for the 10x10, or for downstairs.

Might have misread that, is the filter attached to the grow tent? Or are you just filtering the air in the 10x10 room?

And where are you exhausting the air?

I'm not actually exhausting the room, I just run the fan connected to the filter (pulls air through the filter) and it sits in the middle of the room.

Room temps are fine because I only ever run 300 watts Max of LEDs. I have 2 tents in the room that are 2x2 and 150 watts of LED in each.

I exhaust the tents into the room, maybe I need to exhaust them each through their own carbon filter, instead of trying to scrub the whole room?

Only run when you are NOT in the House but I guarantee it will remove all traces of any odor .... Also set you plants outside or far away from the unit - in another room as it will kill the plants, that’s goes for pets as well .... Open doors and windows when you return to let fresh air in!

We only vape in here. I had another house where we Vaped in it all the time and no one noticed, but we never burn it in here.

Any chance that your friend could just be "smelling things"?.. Maybe he was smelling something you smoked earlier? I mean, what you just described doesn't compute in my brain, lol. One plant, in a 2x2 tent, with a carbon filter in the room, and someone smells weed as soon as they walk in the door? I have no clue how that happens. That plant cant be big enough for its smell to travel that far and remain that strong. Especially if it's an auto. I have yet to grow an auto that smelled that strong. I've grown a few photos that got close..

Only thing I can think of is that Phresh sells two different types of filters and it can get tricky getting the correct one. One of the models they make is for eliminating odors (standard inline filter).. The other is an intake filter for keeping bugs, dust ect out of the grow tent. I went on the Phresh website and searched for their 450 cfm filter. The only 450 cfm in their line up is the intake model. The intake model is designed to do just the opposite. It's designed to clean the air that goes into the grow space. It makes no mention of odor elimination. The videos I watched on the intake filter all discussed the filter being used for removing mold spores, dust, and dirt from the air. I would make sure that the filter you have is designed for odor elimination and not just intake. Because growing one auto, in a 2x2 tent, in a completely separate room, with a carbon filter and fan, should not generate enough odor to slap people in the face as soon as they walk in. If the smell was THAT strong, you would smell it yourself as soon as you walk in your home or open the door to the grow space.

Do you have typical HVAC with ducts? If so smell may transfer thru HVAC System ...... Is tent near an air return?

your right , I have 5 plants in a 5x5 and 6"exhaust fan plumbed directly to a screened window outside. zero smell unless there is a strong northeast wind. which doesnt happen much here until winter.
