Grow Mediums Calling all you hydro growers.. Need some guidance (DWC)

Alright as the thread title says I really want to get my X's and O's in line before I jump into a DWC grow. I've grown in soil since I started but these Deep Water Cultures has caught my eye and I want a new challenge as I do Decently well in soil.. and the fact that I have been keeping up with alot of you hydro growers threads and I want to do that lol.. I'm gonna start my grow at the first of June as I'm heading to another place to live and don't want to start then have to move everything!

So now on to my actually need, I have everything thing I need, air pump, air stone, net pots, hydroton, rockwool cubes, PH meter, PPM meter (debating on getting an EC meter) and some nutes such as Grow big hydro, Big Bloom, and Tiger bloom. Really my main question was about the Nutrients... I noticed most of you guys use a root stimulator, and some sort of formula to put these girls into overdrive. I really want to know from you knowledgeable and somewhat knowledgeable guys what you would recommend for the nutes other than what I already have. Any reccomendations would be appreciated!

As soon as I get everything in line and the first of june comes around and I'm good to go I will start up a Grow Journal with a Think Different or whatever I put in another order for which I will be doing today. Also if you guys want to chime in on some good strains to run in a DWC before I send in my order that would be cool too! I know you guys will be as much help as possible and I want to go ahead and thank you all ahead of time!!

I'm trying to keep it real simple so I'm just using a standard 3-part system (General Hydroponics Flora series nutes- Grow, Micro and Bloom) along with supplemental cal mag additive (also GH). Having great success with this here at day 80 in my first hydro run- DWC in separate 5 gallon bubble buckets. I'm not convinced you need extras...just nail down the basics and don't let conditions stray from where they should be.

As far as strain selection, be prepared for plants to get twice as big as the descriptions in the seed catalogs suggest, when growing in DWC. I was blown away by the growth of my Barney's Farm Critical Rapido autos. They were described as reaching only .5 meter tall and they are over twice that....with double the number of predicted side colas! Growth rates in DWC are truly incredible. You will be amazed, guaranteed!

I should also add the advice to NOT follow the recommendations of the plant food manufacturer regarding feeding solution strength....as you probably already know the recommended dose is way too strong and would quickly kill most autos. There is good info on how much to feed here on AFN if you look for it....

What's up bro, good to hear your tryin DWC! This is my first run with DWC and autos but I have photo hydro experience. I've used a couple of root stims in the past and I just switched to all Advanced Nutrients and additives and Voodoo Juice is best I've seen by fAr for all root stims. But they all work. Also I wouldn't get a ec and ppm pen, if it did both awesome, I have a ppm pen and use this site to convert it to EC http://www.4hydroponics.com/convertPPM.asp good luck on your move and everything else my friend.

Also what I love about AN is that all their nutrients were specially formulated for MJ plants some others brands are jus ferts for like everything, these nutes are specially blended for one purpose "our plants" I've followed their nute regime as it is on their box and not one problem no nute burn...bc this is made for us and not jus random plants, with other nutes I could never get close to what they recommended without severe nute burn. To me I don't see why everybody isn't using these but I felt the same way about botonicare pure blend pro before AN.

Mikey1 I may just try the three part system and the extra cal/mag which I also have that I didn't mention .. Simple is what I really want with this. I know the whole DWC is not a simple process considering you have to check it every single day (which I'm not opposed to, honestly I can't stay away from my ladies as it is haha) I've been very intrigued with the whole process, and from what I've seen the growth is astronomical compared to growing in soil, and that's really what I want! I actually just put in an order for 2 purple kush autos, and three zambeza norther force autos ( thought I'd give that seed company a try something a little different) along with a freebie auto the northern lights x big bud (excited about this one)... I'm thinking I may do my last Think Different in the hydro and do some soil grows also.. Thanks for your help buddy! hopefully I can get going here soon and get it on here! OOOgautO I really need to look into some bloom boosters and root stim.. I kind of want to stay in the fox farms line, I don't know how it would work out mixing fox farms with AN nutes.. since I already have all the fox farms nutrients, I may look into the other trio cha ching beastie bloom and I noticed they also have the Kangaroots also but I need to look into AN, there are several of you guys that absolutely swear by it and I've seen some hefty plants that eat it up!! Appreciate the advice brotha and will definitely look into the AN nutes

What line are you exactly using OOOgautO? is it the two part ? I'd actually love to know and I'll check it out!

You should def give it try, maybe when your ferts are all out. I've ran soil with botonicare tri flex and pure blend pro with no probs.

Holy damn that's definitely a large line of nutrients haha.. I will definitely look into it if its specifically formulated for "us".. doesn't AN have the PH perfect line or whatever its called?

Lol yea it's a lil bit haha. Yea I'm currently using their ph perfect two part system. And they have a lot more, like the expert professional bundle whatever's the biggest bundle seems like it comes with 30 bottles bro, it's crazy. I jus picked out what I felt would benefit the ladies the most.
