How long does it take mold to grow

To be more specific, we should ask, "How long does it take for a mold spore to germinate?" Then we should ask, "How long does it take growing mold to colonize?"
To grow, molds need a food source, a certain temperature and moisture. Where these conditions are present, molds can germinate and colonize. How fast growth occurs depends on the combination of conditions. Spores can germinate after only 12 hours in some conditions and some grow in 24 to 48 hours. Houses offer an ample food supply drywall, wood, insulation, paper. When these materials become damp or wet, settled spores can become growing molds.
Molds may colonize in 1 to 12 days depending on the type of mold. Following are several types of molds and the number of days in which colonization may take place:

• Mucor sp. colonizes between 1 and 2 days.
• Rhizopus sp. colonizes between 1 and 2 days.
• Aspergillus sp. colonizes between 2 and 3 days.
• Penicillium sp. colonizes between 2 and 3 days.
• Stachybotrys chartarum colonizes between 8 and 12 days.

From Servpro.com but it's still a neat little guideline to stick by, so with that said - burp at 12 hours if you're uncomfortable with the level of moisture you're sealing the jar with!

Lots of good stuff here, guys. I've used the lettuce trick many times over the years, including with weed I've bought that's gotten too dried out. WVR, I've got a few of these hygrometers from Walmart and they run about 7-8 bucks:

Unfortunately they're a little large to fit in a regular Mason jar, but I'm pretty sure they'll fit in the half gallon jars. Also, since we're on the subject of drying and curing, I thought I'd spread the word about TBM's great tutorial for those who haven't read it: AutoFlower Network - Forum Home - The time we all work so hard for.

Hey AB! Always good to see ya bro! Thanks for the heads up on being able to pick one up at WalMart. Yeah we have 3 different sizes atm. I have the colas in gallon jars. Could probably fit in there. Thanks man so am I! It's just about 12 hours since we removed the lettuce so we'll be burping very soon. I have read that tutorial before but I need to brush up! Thanks for posting the link here! I've only went through it once and I need to read it again so I can retain so of it. Thanks again Andy!

Burped the girls twice tonight. They did have a small smell of lettuce in the jars with them after the 12 hours undisturbed however, after the two burps the smell is barely there and I'm sure will be gone after a few more burps. The buds have a nice balance of moist and dry. Still night & day compared to what they were like before the lettuce! One of the jars is starting to have a slight smell of MJ coming out! Can't wait for that. We have 6 jars. 3 are the individual colas and the other 3 are the rest of each plant. Well, the 6th jar has two tiny nuggs that were taken off the one SR a day earlier than the rest. So I just left them by themselves in that jar. Here's some shots for your enjoyment!



Once it's cured properly and ready to smoke I'll post the final total dry weight and add to Bailer's smoke report... I think that's how you do a smoke report... Just add to an existing one... I'll figure it out by then lol dang ol Bubblegum still rattling my brain! :smoke:

Might be best to go to the Strain Reviews forum and start your own thread. Different points of view are a good thing, IMO. (boss mods... please correct me if I'm wrong )

There is a stickied thread at the top of the Strain Reviews forum page, with a "strain review" template. I just copy the template and paste it to my new thread. It's pretty self-explanatory after that.

So the lettuce thing worked as far as putting moisture back in but now all our weed smells and tastes like lettuce. I didn't use a whole lot in each jar and it still smells and tastes like it. So that's caused a little storm on the home front because my girl thinks the buds ruined now. We've even put them in brand new aired out mason jars and it's not really doing anything. I gave them 2 - 3 days to try and burp the lettuce out before saying anything but, it's the same. I don't know if this is fixable but I'm frustrated. Not only does it taste n smell like lettuce the potency is shitty. I'm not even going to do a smoke report cuz it ain't worth it. Maybe on this next run of SR's I'll do better. It's very nice having all this bud and knowing I did this but again, I came up short in the end. I hope I can do better with these next crops. I'm very annoyed with myself knowing I saw cloudy and even amber in the trichs and this bud doesn't even get us high. Very shitty day boys!

Hey Asi! Thanks for the reply man. It does get you a little heady high but for like 15 mins or so. I dried them for too long. Probably only needed to dry 2 or 3 days and I had them closer to 6 or 7. So... my own fault. It's been curing for 4, 5 maybe 6 days I have to look back in the thread... All the days are blending together lol Again I wasn't expecting knock you on your ass bud I WAS however expecting it to be a little better than it is. I dried too long. I would say that's my problem but, then again I don't really know so I'm just thinking that's what it is. Added the lettuce to it because it was so brittle and it beefed it up and made it moist again. It looks pretty damn good, breaks up damn good (don't need a lot to roll a decent doobie), burns evenly, fairly slow, white ash. I'm happy with that! Very happy! Just wish it were stronger. Not necessarily couch lock be at least a decent affect. Wish I could get this lettuce smell and taste out of it... Maybe I just need to keep burping it out of there... We've had bud that smelled and tasted shitty and after a few days in the jar it not only smelled and tasted better but burned better. I'll keep giving it time in the jars. All I can do. And Try again. I've decided to come back to this strain when I am dialed in and more confident in what I'm doing from start to finish and see how much was my errors and inexperience and how much really was just the strain.

Thanks for the recommendations Asi. I Had wondered about the CreamCaramel. Heard of the other two but didn't know anything about them. Appreciate it mate!
