By Request: Germination test

So what happened to the soil kids? They ever sprout? Did you move to solo cups?

Update:
soil seeds sprouted yesterday 100%. Hard to say why it took longer, it may be that it was easier to plant them a little deeper in soil. However, germ rate for both was 100%. rather a small sample to have much meaning. i may do this again with some of my unknown seeds. Maybe do 20 total. I'll post here when I do it.Transplanted the jiffy plugs this morning. so far so good!

In another, semi related experiment, I decided to plant all seeds from my Blue Dragon run that didn't germinate in the paper towel. about 40 seeds. So I took a small plastic tote, probably hold about a gallon of soil, and filled it with organic soil and planted ALL those seeds in it! I figured that maybe a few would still pop and so far, three have. I'm going to keep all or most that do and let them breed to replenish my auto Blue Dragon seed supply. I'll get pics later.

I put the jiffy pellet plants in one quart pots

and my house is over flowing with plants.... lol! 27 cannabis, 14 assorted veggies already sprouted and some tomato cuttings that are already rooted, and 5 house plants! Can't wait for the new greenhouse to get here!

Keep those pellets in some water
Man don't forget! And looking good! Are you going to wait for the roots to be busting out before putting them in full soil? That's the best way with photoperiods. By busting out I mean tons of white spikes all pushing through the pellet hard.

The number one killer for any plant in a jiffy pellet is letting them dry out. They'll suck up so much water as they grow, so leaving a half inch of water in the tray is essential for peat pellets & peat pots n

ive had no success with root riot for the fact they dry out too fast im assuming you could do the same with them then....leave a bit of water at the bottom

ive always soaked for 24hrs then use the paper tower method then into the soil, recently started just soaking and then direct in to the pot and got better results it takes at least an extra 24 hrs to sprout
but what i find is they come out with that first set of true leaves so i get less stretch if any at the begging,i know its not much less of stretch but i prefer it they seem to start vegging sooner autos that is

i will be trying the root riot again though if leaving them sat in a bit of water is an option?

Root Riots, etc work best in a domed growing tray. Without, spray them with water every day to keep the just moist and they'll work great. Adding a little water to the tray helps also.

I've been doing direct to soil also and I've found the results though mostly good, inconsistent. overall, I still find the paper towel method the best of germination rates, with Jiffy plugs ( same as Root Riots and Monsanto doesn't own them.... ) a close second.
