Sorry, can't help myself .. another update.
Thought I'd show you the amount of space I have to play with for the grow .. plenty of height and width, with room to work too.
I was looking at the plants today thinking to myself I should start doing some early training .. so the first one to get it, top left in all the pics, found herself on the receiving end of a bloody good supercrop this morning, all four of the dominant tops rising up got bent outwards at 90 deg to each other ..
This one's getting the same treatment, but she doesn't know it yet..!
I'll also build a bamboo 'cage' tomorrow, a sort of scrog net but not so 'tight' if you get me? I've got some Iso on order, should also arrive tomorrow, so I'll be well-busy making qwiso and building my cage all day .. just wish I could be wearing flip-flops as opposed to fucking snow boots!
Not quite sure the FIM'ing went quite to plan .. one seems to have taken to it, although I'm not sure ..
The other, well, she appears to be doing her own thing ..
Programmable timers .. word of advice, buy two.
If you've ever tried to program one, you'll understand. If I want to totally change the timing regime for a device (in my case the ventilation fans) I have to completely reprogramme the bloody timer .. and back again if circumstances necessitate a revert. Takes ages and it's painful.
I've found that, due to the fluctuating weather conditions outside the shed, I need more than a 'one size fits all' solution. So I've set up two .. switching between them is as easy as moving the plug..! Ideally, I'd like a whole bank of them ..
I'm still tweaking by the day ... lots of permutations to get through!
I also had to remove the plug for the growroom 'work' light (the one on the far left) .. I kept leaving it on by mistake last week, so now I'm into the flowering stage I can't afford to go and make that mistake again, so it's been removed from temptation, for now.
A couple of handy tips regarding Plagron Batmix soil and Airpots ..
I'm using 20 litre Airpots and I got to pondering the amounts of water I'd need throughout the grow, starting with the first watering.
I gave each pot 2 litres of water when I potted into them, that's all. I'd rather give them less than more at the moment, the soil's already supplied at a perfect moisture-level, why ruin it with more water? I had no run-off, and there's plenty of moisture for the roots without turning it into a bog. Why no run-off? Well, all the nutrients are in the (expensive) soil, not the water, and I want all the immediately-available soluble nutrients to find their way into the plant, not down the drain. Run-off would be a waste at this stage. The instructions on the side of the bag and on the website recommend you flush the soil before using, to avoid too much soluble readily-available nutrient to batter the plant on it's arrival .. however, a couple of UK growers who use the soil regularly told me not to flush, just whack 'em straight in, as the plants are more than a few weeks old and can take it. They were right, there was very little transplant shock and they certainly don't look like they're suffering from nutrient-burn to me.
Also, new to Airpots, I was quick to learn how to water too .. if you water the sides, it all runs out of the holes, but if you water the centre of the pot right at the plant stump, you won't lose any out of the sides, and it'll seep through to the soil at the edges of the pot in it's own time. Seems to be working so far, haven't wasted a drop yet..!
That's me done for now .. have a chillaxing weekend, I'll be a bit busy meself ..!
