Yes, to all of that. There is something to be said for starting off cheap and gradually upgrading. But like I said, a lot of these items are hard to sell. You spend $50 on a cheap grow light and when you want to upgrade you have to practically give away your existing light. If you are in an area where growing is illegal, your best bet is probably to throw away your old light or stick it in a box and save it for a rainy day. So now instead of buying the $100 light. You bought the $50 light and a $100 light. Spending $150. Sometimes you may not have a choice. But I believe the best option "if you know you are going to like growing" is to save up and buy the setup you want without upgrading. However if you don't have this option, or don't know if you will continue to grow, or if you don't mind the idea of wasting a little money along the way so that you can start growing now... then the upgrade along the way method is a good way to go.
So what does everyone think when you hear budget setup? I know what I think. And in my opinion if you aren't willing to spend $250-$350 on a setup, you shouldn't be looking to grow cannabis indoors. For $329.99 on Amazon you can get a 2x2 grow tent that includes everything but potting soil or growing media "for hydro guys" and seeds. Obviously to get an optimal grow environment you may need more things like a heater, humidifier, dehumidifier, air conditioning unit or whatever... but this $330 kit gets you growing. Now maybe you can find something cheaper. There is a mars hydro kit that is $10 cheaper. Maybe you are growing in a closet and don't need a tent. Maybe you can get all these things a little cheaper somewhere else. But at the end of the day it is of my opinion that if you can't spend the money for a simple setup like this, you should not be trying to grow indoors.
What does everyone else think? Am I wrong? What are your opinions? this is about 16 cubic feet and 4 square feet. Maybe you can find a smaller grow tent kit... maybe it's 18x18. But I think for anyone serious about trying to grow their own bud, $350 and a 2x2 space in your house or apartment is what it's going to cost and if you can't spend that... just keep buying for a dealer or dispensary. I agree the term budget build kind of applies to anyone, because everyone has a budget, but not all budgets are the same. However most people on a very tight budget probably aren't planning on having a lot of automation. I myself already have an AC Infinity inline fan planned as my next big purchase. I have a 4x4 tent and feel I definitely need to upgrade to a 6 or 8 inch filter and fan over the 4inch combo I currently have. There are also Ituations where a HID setup might be preferred over an LED setup. For instance, if you are growing in a cooler environment and need to use a heater... well maybe an HPS or CMH light would work better because you don't have to worry about your HID overheating the area. But LED lights are simply more efficient than current HID options and if you buy a quality light you will get years of use as apposed to replacing HID bulbs every grow or 2.I hear budget I hear lower chances of success. I did in home grow setups for a over a year and while everyone doesn't spend the same, not hitting certain parameters just makes certain things difficult. It's irrigation, automation, and efficient LED lighting that tends to jack the price up.
I'd take a cheap 4x4 tent with iPower everything and a 600w HPS over the kits you've mentioned. Even a 2x2 with a 400w HPS until the preferred style, ergonomics, automation, etc are determined and can be upgraded later.

figure you square footage and figure 50 watts per square foot. Get a cheap quantum board .extra wattage helps.stay away from blurpleEveryone has different needs and different budgets. Amazon light work fine. Light is the most important and you will need at least a 4 inch exhaust and filter. Flowering cannabis reeks and can cause people to feel sick
