Budget setup?

Now if you have no intentions of running air conditioning or a heater... or a dehumidifier or a humidifier then you could save $7 and not buy there Thermometer/ hygrometer. There are a lot of items here that could be upgraded easily. Who knows how long a $30 carbon filter will last. The light is ok but you could bump up to the next size for like $30 or so. But if you upgrade everything even a little you are knocking on the door of $300. And let's be honest. You will want to upgrade some of these very soon. And these items are not going to be an easy sell at a yard sale. A lot of them are a loss when you upgrade.

As a certified budget grower myself I take some respectful objection to your view! It's more about expectation. My cheapo lights yield really not much over 2oz per run, which for many would be insufficient, but for me and the person I help for medicinal smoke, it's more than enough.
My home rig lights were under 50 euros, tent 2.5*2.5 tent was 65 second hand, biobizz light mix soil + grow + bloom liquid nutes, extraction fan and circulation fans, pretty much 200 euros all in. Latest yield was 62g, from the coffeeshops here that would cost 620 euros.
Tldr budget setups are fine if you manage expectations

That tent is pretty small... a bump up to a 4ft tall tent is going to cost $10-$15 more.

Sorry also I did need to buy a carbon filter, I think the can-lite 100 was 25 euros, and other piecemeal items probably came to 15 eur or so :smokeit:

240 euro = $285 usd.... so we are talking about the same setup investment cost really. And my price includes a grow light that anyone can buy on Amazon. Screenshot_20210906-104940_Google.jpg

That's fair!
This was all put together over a period of time rather than a one off spend. I did grow with fewer lights, no real extractor, in an upturned storage box for around 18 months, again producing enough to cover my personal use and the medical user. But it was a frustrating endeavour.
Starting out how you can and improving what you can, when you can, is the way to approach budget growing in my book

There is something to be said for starting off cheap and gradually upgrading. But like I said, a lot of these items are hard to sell. You spend $50 on a cheap grow light and when you want to upgrade you have to practically give away your existing light. If you are in an area where growing is illegal, your best bet is probably to throw away your old light or stick it in a box and save it for a rainy day. So now instead of buying the $100 light. You bought the $50 light and a $100 light. Spending $150. Sometimes you may not have a choice. But I believe the best option "if you know you are going to like growing" is to save up and buy the setup you want without upgrading. However if you don't have this option, or don't know if you will continue to grow, or if you don't mind the idea of wasting a little money along the way so that you can start growing now... then the upgrade along the way method is a good way to go.
