If ones main goal when growing autos was to attain the greatest bud density they can, what would they go about prioritising and doing to get the densest nugs? I hear a bit about autoflowers not being as dense at photos, is this true? Does anyone know what strains have the densest nugs?
Ps I know indica have denser nugs, I also have a hlg 550 v2 480w LED for a 0.8x0.8m tent space so lighting is not in short supply

All in the genetics baring all else is on point. Not all strains auto or photo have dense nugs so pick a strain known for density.

its all down to your lights and environment i get thick dense buds off all strains but as you say indica are thicker also lots of Mephisto plants ive had proper big ones also fastbuds dinafem are all great breeders also with your lights i think you will do very well anyhow and nice to meet you growbro

I think if your set up is dialled in.. with that light in that tent your almost guaranteed dense nugs brother.. I get solid nugs with all my plants.. mainly Dinafem and Mephisto with a few Seedstockers strains recently and more recently Autoseeds sucker punch. Get your temps humidity airflow and feeding on point and rock solid nugs will be yours my friend :jointman: good luck with your grow.

It's going to vary from strain to strain and pheno to pheno but your environment - lights, medium, method, temp, humidity, etc. - is going to affect the stretch and other morphological properties of the grow. Different lighting recipes are reported to increase density, oil production, and so on.

Why the need for high bud density though?

Though bud density doesn't equate to quality. If you want the best answer on strains I'd probably message breeders like @Dinafem-Mark @stan_mephisto @Fast Buds Heather and others on here to readily help you get seeds you need

Of course!! Feel free to hit me up and we can chat about which strains would suit you best =)

if bud density is the goal, I would prioritize this way:

1. Genetics (some strains have different bud structures)
2. Direct flowering spectrum lights, as intense as the strain desires
3. P&K, as strong as the plant desires
4. VPD (look it up)

I agree with all the previous posts. You will find what you need with these awesome growers andby breeders on here. Good luck, man!
