How's it going unit I don't know anything about hydro but some will be along that does. Welcome to the forum :D

I grow in a big tank in what I refer to as bubbly hydro. I like the name but someone once said it makes me sound like I'm 4 years old. I use perpetual nuits so I am not a good one to ask. My nuits have to work for vegation groth and also flowering. You won't be doing that.

I can tell you the ppm thing. You need a ppm meter and calibration fluid to keep it in good adjustment. You should check your water to see if it is at zero before you start. If it is below 5 that is allright. Over 5 and get yur water somewhere else. A reading over 5 means there is chlorine in the water so don't use it. Very common in city water. Buy some from the store and test it or get someone with a good well and test theirs.

I like to start gently with the nutrients at a level of about 400 ppm. I won't get into additives just tell you what I use. Besides the fertilizer I use calcium and magnesium supplement that you can get at most grow centres. I use vinagar to lower my pH and that is it. Many other hydro growers add molasses and other bud food at flower time but I don't. The nutrients I take up to 750 and stay there for the rest of the grow. Yes I am starting them in 750 in my grow and I do get a few infantile deaths in my plants. It is about 1 in 30 and if you started them more gently you would improve on my numbers for sure. Ask me anything you want and if I can answer from my experience I will.

I start my seeds directly into Jiffy pucks. I plant my tank with the jiffy pucks in net pots held in place with those little red clay balls when they are about 3 days from their first leaves showing.

There are many rivers which lead to the sea and that buddha saying is really appropriate when growing pot. Lots will answer besides me and their advice for your situation may be better than mine.

Good luck with your grow and welcome to the site.

Do you have PH and EC/PPM meters?
Those two items are extremely important when going hydro, without both you are just going to make your grow hard and problematic (if they grow at all).
Are you wanting to go organic or chemical for your nutes?
How hot is it where you live as that can have a big impact on hydro also, nothing like fermenting your res tank nutes in the heat :P

the ppm meeter is on the list of things to get....i already hve a ph tester ive been growing in soil for about 6 months now so i wanted to try something new...i live in maine nd its winter tyme here so heat not a issue at the moment...as of nuets i would like to go all organic.

A fellow Mainer , welcome aboard .

Depending where you are located , there are a few decent grow shops around that you can get what you need . Also , there are many good knowledgeable people here on this site that can answer just about any question you have .

Theres is a guy on the site who is a master of DWC buckets have a look at his journals "think different" and his auto mazzar journal and you will learn a lot!

Im on my first run with a DWC buck and have followed his advice via PM and his journals (many thanks for his time)

DWC needs a lot of attention, i mean daily checks and adjustments but i have never seen a plant grow so fast.

here is my La diva at 17 days grown using his advice, its not perfect but its ok :)

Good luck dude!
