Breeding better auto-flowers in groups

An Alternative to the Experiment in Recurrent Selection I first purposed is;
Starting with all F1's (photo x auto) lines

The only problem is; the size of the next Breeding Cycle with a 25% auto gene expression. The population needs to be large with 400 plants, in order to get 100 auto-flowering plants.

Damn, your good man!

If you're going to do this why not start with crossing ruderalis to an indica or sativa and making your own base auto to start? Unless another member of this breeding group has already done that I would say this is where to start.

;) not easy to come by an work a Rudy... ;) ;) ;) volunteering Evol? you got some interesting things going on there buddy ;)

I only got a few and they have been divided among my 2 best "Evol breeders". I can try to get some more for this project but it could take a while as the ones I have were not easy to get. Maybe someone else has some or knows where to get them. I'm sure I'm not the only one with access to them.

If we were able to do it this way would we want to cross the ruderalis with indica or sativa first? Maybe a ruderalis x indica/sativa cross?

Why rebuild the auto gene? Why not just improve on what we got?

The reason I am doing it is because I want my own fresh genetics to work with. I am in no way putting down the autoflower genetics already out there but with cannabis I believe you can never have too much diversity. I will admit it's also slightly about pride because I want to be able to say that the autos I created from scratch are MY genetics.
With a large group it should be fairly easy to do and I'm sure a lot of people would love to have a 100% AFN created auto.

If I hade wild landrace autoflowering. I would use this breeding schemes.

I'm not trying to argue here but if it was easy wouldn't there be a lot more than two auto bases (Stitch's and lowrider). I'm not looking to learn how to make bricks I want to build a mansion out of those blocks that exist. Zygotes breeding method already pushes 100 plants which is a federal crime, even in legal states. I'd hate to do federal time for 100+ ditch weed plants and I'd like something worth smoking while I'm growing 5 generations of plants.

Another option although not as effective as what Zygote sugests would be a strain standard, like they do with chicken breeds. You set a standard and then form plants that meet the standard. Some thing like only breeding for plants that are:

32-36 inches tall
low leaf to flower ratio
highly resinous
mold resistant
etc... All the traits are decided and then everyone breeds for and exchange genetics that meet the standard. It would take a little longer to stabilize but can leave a more diversity of plants that meet a certain standard.

As you say, it's a p`roblem growing too many plants... so the way I use is to germinate few seeds and then select the best for doing the crosses... I choose the characteristics that I like, the smell, flavour, production... But I can't put 100 plants unfortunately.
