HELP!

The yellowing of the older leaves is turning out to be a lot bigger of a problem then I had thought.

While looking for the reasons that two of my plants are starting to yellow on the bottom I came across a couple really helpful website to help diagnose problems during your grow.

http://www.marijuana-seeds.net/Thanks-ThankYou.htm
http://www.420magazine.com/forums/p...abis-plant-pest-problem-solver-pictorial.html

After reading those pages I had a few good ideas on what the problem can be. But funny enough a leave yellowing problem can pretty much be anything... Lucky for me I have pictures from when the problem began and then took more as it progressed. I'm pretty sure I have narrowed down the field to a Nitrogen deficiency, root lockup, PH problems. Since I learned that the quickest way to fix a nutrient deficiency is to simply give it nutrients. (Seems simple enough.) I didn't understand since I've been following the FoxFarm feeding schedule with the soil trio. (Big Bloom, Grow Big, Tiger Bloom). Just in case I messed something up I decided to give them a dose of all three. Ironicly I was on week five, if not close anyway, which is the only week that uses all three nutes at once. So by process of elimination a nice feeding with all three FoxFarm soil nutes SHOULD take care of any nutrient deficiency, I hope.... If that doesn't work I'm going to flush the plants. Now that I'm looking at the feeding schedule they recommend a flush before week five... I was actually watching a few videos on nutrients and feeding and took a liking to one growers method. It's more of a three day feeding process. First day you follow the FoxFarm schedule for whatever week your on and feed your plants regular. Second day you do nothing, just let the plants soak up all the nutes and water. Finally on the third day just a basic flush to remove any extra nutes and clean out the soil until the next feeding. This is going to be my new method. I feed them yesterday so today i'm just waiting it out and watching, then tomorrow after work a nice flush. From what I understand to fully flush you take the number of gallons of the pot your using and double it, and that number is how many gallons to use per plant. The last thing I am thinking it can be is a PH imbalance. I only have digital soil PH tester that really don't work in water. I also have those "pill" soil ph test kits that change to a certain color depending on the PH. If you look back in my grow journal you'll see that the digital soil PH tester reads 6.3-6.5 on all the plants. I have even tried to take some of the runoff and test it, but it all came back in range. But because I am unable to test for PPM and exact runoff PH I can't quite rule it out just yet. I also learned that the pots with the little runoff tray attached to the bottom are not good. So i'm going to put some plastic down on the grow closet floor and ditch the little trays. I'm going to prop them up on pieces of broken brick or something similar. As well as poke more holes in the pots since there are only four small holes for drainage.

Early stages of yellowing.
I know it's easier to diagnose when you can see the progression of the yellowing... Hope this helps :help:

Three days later
The first leaves that started turning yellow are dead and falling off.

In the attached photo's I included pictures of the tops of the yellowing plants. From what I understand the yellowing/dead leaves will never recover but the new growth color is a good indication of how the plants are doing now. They seem to have a healthy green color now after the feeding. I'm hoping after a nice flush all problems should be in the past.

I really need to invest in a good PPM/PH meter. But until then I will continue to check with my P.O.S. meters and modify as needed.

Really could use some help here from fellow "farmers". I really don't want to mess up my ladies beyond repair, they have become like my children. :toke:

ANY advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm really hoping all the great advice and all the experience from my new AFN network can help save my ladies. I guess you could say that I'm "PAGING Dr. GREENTHUMB!!! LoL

Hey Blue. The first thing that you should ever be worried about is your ph, not the last. Before we can help a whole lot, we are going to ask for your ph. If your ph is not in range, it doesn't matter what nutes or how much of them you add, the plant can't eat without it, ph is their fork and spoon so to speak. I suggest getting a good digital ph meter as soon as possible. Until then, use those color tabs and ph your feeds the best you can tell, same with your runoff. If it's too dark or discolored to tell, then you don't have a whole lot of options. That downward curl is a possible sign of ph lockout, and without knowing what it is in and out, you're sorta in the dark. Sorry man. I am here to help you all the way till the end, but there's only so much you can do without a proper meter. To grow well IMO, you should buy proper ph gear before you even buy your beans, soil, nutes and everything else.

you could foliar feed to get around it till you can test but you have to be careful and use a diluted solution. might be safer to wait

Good point. Just make sure you don't wet the bud sites that may be forming.

yeh i couldnt see them if they are there, looked young enough to be ok but i was only advised to do it for something similar and am no expert.
