Indoor Blackstrap and LSD-25

Smoke Report
Tried a lil nug of Blackstrap today. Still not completely cured, but I was curious.

Initially sweet berry, and a floral note similar to Gelato, but not as distinct.very caramel exhale, and a hint of eucalyptus/menthol.

I will be growing this again, but in soil. I think I'm done with the Pyramids, I've never gotten a good yield from one. Their started cubes have been perfect.

I want to make hash with my next two plants. It's messy, but I'll do the ice water extraction with a cheap washing machine. It's worth the extra work. Depending on how much I get from two plants I may try one fresh run. Maybe I will just chop the branches enough to fit in the Canatrol, set the Dry cycle for one or two days and then into the freezer. Purple hash.

I have a Source Turbo, but it extracts so well, that much of the character of the original strain is lost.

I may get a press if 710 has some good sales. Dulytek 7 ton is looking good.

I feel like to do dry ice I'd have to commit a lot of material to the process to make it worthwhile, where with a press you can just squish a bag on demand at any time.

These old lungs can barely tolerate the hash. I stop at the hash stage. If I was going to squash it and start a youtube channel Id call it "Breaking Buds"

Blackstrap weight cost analysis:

Total dried weight 59g.

Electricity $70
Pyramid $20
Seed $10
Nutes $5

Total costs $105 , $1.78/g

I'm certain that this low yield is due to the pyramid, not genetics. Everything I've grown so far has been double this size in soil.

The seed was actually a freebie on a @MultiverseSami order, so thanks for that. I have 2 more, and those are going in soil, but I'm going to time them for October/November finish.

Sounds like you did pretty good. I never tried to figure out the cost per gram. that's cool.
I started two in earth box type pots. Left them alone, (just let them grow), in the green house with the veggies. They are as big as the indoor plants that are two weeks older. Free sunshine, free rainwater (finally), and a pedestal fan. I got some more freebies from multiverse too. I'm hoping for a male Coal Miners Daughter so I can make some seeds. I plan on making more CMD seeds or crossing it with the Blackstrap or Sour Stomper. I got Mothman which is already CMD and Blackstrap. I wonder if I'll get something like Mothman.
I need a handful of seeds so I'm not freaking out over every fifteen dollar seedling that I kill.

Even though I'm not growing to sell, essentially, I am buying it all for myself, so I'm trying to figure out what is and isn't cost effective in my process. When I started growing, my primary concern was successful completion alone. Then it became concern that I could supply my own needs, that is no longer an issue, and I am able to donate to local friends.

I am now trying to either increase quality(Its pretty darn good now) decrease cost, or decrease effort.

I have a big Venn diagram in my head where there is no point where all circles overlap. Quality, Cost, Effort, Safety, Quantity

I acknowledge that my testing process is flawed because I'm doing comparisons between seeds, not clones, but I don't have that option with autos. I don't have a big enough grow are to remove standard deviations.

My major expense is still light. I am unable to grow outside.

I'm with you all the way. When I first heard about autos I ordered them before I did any research. Autoflowering??? Sign me up!

Germination
A couple spots opened up.

2 more LSD-25 set free

The first grow of this was untopped. I'm going to top these, and lay them flat.

24 hour soak, and these 2 are going into starter cubes.

5 gallon Oxypots.

Roots Organic Lush and Fishnure again.

I'll be using Megacrop from @Greenleaf Nutrients since it did really well on other grows.

I ordered some Fastbuds LSD-25 from Multiverse, and they threw in some Gnome Blackstrap freebies. The black should look good with the purple, so here we go!

Both soaked for 24 hours in plain water, and were put directly into Eazy Plug cubes. So far, only the LSD has surfaced, and it opened up over a few hours.

Already the taproot has emerged from the bottom of the cube, so I put it in it's final container, a 5 gallon Oxypot of Roots Organic Lush. There is about 10% rich compost added, and the soil was watered till runoff with mosquito bits.

The next 2 weeks, I will only be misting the surface to keep it from drying out.

70F 66H, 10 DLI

Nutrients: Dynomyco added. Full line of Kelp4less nutrients, Recharge, and Rot Block will be used. Overnight tap water till the first real leaves are showing.
