Hey guys, and gals! I'm starting a new, to me, experiment. I've only been growing about 2 years and up to now, I've been using soil. I assisted my brother in a 5 gal dwc bubble bucket and now I've decided that I'm going to give it a run myself.

I decided, on a whim, that I didn't want to pay $40 for buckets and also that I wanted to try it with 2gallon buckets. So, I dropped into the local walmart and picked up, the only 2 gallon bucket they had, which was white, and started cutting holes. I did cover the sides of the bucket in duct tape and the lid in reflective hvac tape, I've been told that if you use white, you have to cover it, because the light will come through and cause root issues. I used a 3 inch net pot and a 10 gallon air pump, with one of the long airstones.

The seed for this text run is a Dutch Passion, Auto BlueBerry. I'll be running flora series nutes, following the Lucas Formula, which has worked for me in the past, in soil. But, I'm only starting at 1/2 strength, because I learned from the 2 BB I have in soil that they are very nute sensitive. I placed the seed in a jiffy pellet 3 days ago and she popped up today, so I have a pic to start off this journal along with a pic of my bucket. I'll try to limit my updates to once per week, but may get a bit over zealous during growth spurts. Anyways, thanks for looking and any tips and input are very welcome. Feel free to share your experiences with this strain and growing method, as I'm new to it. Thanks again! Here's some pics.

I went ahead an put the jiffy pellet and my little lady in the DWC today. She's at day #3. I hope it wasn't too early. I've never had luck starting seeds in jiffy pellets, I usually start my seeds in a solo cup, in a lighter mix of the soil they'll end up in. Hopefully everything will go ok and hopefully I sat her in there correct. Anyways, here's a little pic of her, she's a tiny baby. Thanks for checking in and Roll Tide!

Nice looking setup, I have no idea on DWC (I gather, as in most situations, tea is vital) so will let others have opinions about that. So for now I'll just sit back and enjoy the updates if that's cool?

Thanks Tony! If this works out, I'm switching completely over to DWC. From what I've seen, it seems to finish faster. I'm still learning about growing in general, and just now dipping my toe in the hydro waters and I'm sure my results will get better once I get a tent. I've been growing in an open room, with the light hanging in the middle, with the plants under them. It's a very inefficient use of my lights.

Update minimus! Not much happening, except that she still lives! Here she is at Day #6. She's starting to grow, a little, I'm expecting to see her to start to put on some size soon.

Gig you cover the sides as well with aluminum tape? I would even be as paranoid enough as to tape up the rim.

Anyway, +rep slap for DIY :pass:
