I got in big debate are photoperiods waaay morepotent than autoflowers?? i'm still novice gower, i have 1 indoor gor and one outdoor gorw behind me and all were autoflower, so im interested what are you thinking?
Hmmm... Tough question! Autos have made massive progress in recent years with the claimed THC levels rising all the time. However they are still crossed with a Ruderalis which in turn has to reduce the overall potenty. That said, you would need to be a very seasoned smoker to tell the difference between the pp and auto versions of some strains.
I would say yes is the answer to your question right now. However, give it an year or two and the gap will be closed!

yo, ,,ill pop in my opinion if ok..when autos first started out, yeah they were weak compared to Photos, but like Mr Hardon posted, they have come a long way now and have less percentage of ruderallis in them, so less chance of the plant turning into its Rud. parent.
Phenotypes still happen quite a lot in autos tho, consistency is still yet to be perfected I think. You might grow 8 auto seeds and some of them might be lanky, finish late, some short finish quick..some might be strong some not,,.whereas photos seem to be more solid in that area.
But... photos take too long, too much hassle during flowering, hermies, temp drops at night cause hermie etc.. but autos on the other hand are rock solid.
Now, compared to what ive grown and smoked, both photos and autos, most of. I would say that some of my autos have blown me away after 4-5 weeks curing, Big Bang Auto being one of them, blooming Coma weed that was. lol.
and now im finding a lot more becoming more powerful even tho my growing methods are still the same
Am smoking DinaFems Fruit Auto at the moment,,,and kinda wish I hadn't rolled one.... eyes are going already lol. hence me keep editing posts,. lol. spelling mistakes all over em.

From point of view of medical potency. Pain relieving quality for my patient. I have always grown photoperiods before and after giving Blue Automazar a testrun... After initial skepticism she asked me to add automatics in regular rotation. I'd estimate they are pretty much in tie as far as the potency goes.
Bonus to autos ofcourse, yield and less time before harvest.

That is my point,maybee they are more potent but not Waaaaaay more potent...And i doubt that there is a person who can gess what is he smoking auto or photo.. that is just my opinion...

yeah ive tried that test on my mates, auto or photo and your right, they couldn't tell the difference.
even when they saw the plants growing. Biggest reaction was they couldn't believe how big they were in such a short time.
Autos,,danged fast some of them.

Me too, we've given away some of the harvest, and the folks who have sampled it, seasoned smokers I might add, refuse to believe it is from an Auto...... Lol

my buddy had this year outdoor grow he gave mi to try white rhino and jack harrer and i got one auto bubblegum ... I try his jack and white rhino in my bad and was mediocre smoke , my girl became nervous and anxiest (anxiety) , then we smoke our bubble(she didnt know what are we smokin) and become chatty,silly and all,later fell a sleep.. My other buddy try it also and was thrilled with it(Bgum), only my smart foto buddy bashed them coz these two strains that he grow are the best and GHS is the best strain house..

It's unfortunate that we can't scientifically find out the answer to this but gathering opinions and experiences is definitely a good step in the right direction.
In my experience photos are more potent, strain for strain but it's because a lot of autos are poorly bred. The ruderalis gene is recessive and will show it's head but you have to breed out any other traits and keep working the strains for potency which is difficult with autos, far more difficult than it is with photos. It's easier to breed potency through photos than it is autos because people are lazy. There's no cloning and sampling to find the perfect matches and to try and isolate particular traits and phenotypes. It's matching appearances and other recognizable traits and hoping that this other seed which formed a similar plant is as strong as the one you let go full term and smoked like a champ. What if it's not though? Do you continue breeding the strain or go back? You should go back, unfortunately most auto breeders do not and wind up with an inferior product.
With all of that said, I believe if you were to take Strain A and breed it with a base lowryder, then match phenotypes that were true to Strain A over and over to breed out all of the lowryder traits and just keep the ruderalis trait but the rest of Strain A keeps it's integrity and looks, grows, smells and tastes exactly like it did prior to being bred then there's a good possibility the thc content difference wouldn't be discernible to the average patient.

For me I would agree that Photo's hold a very small lead in potency over Autos, but I have no problems trading less space/plant more plants, quicker grows and high yeilds on my auto's over a little higher potency for photo's. I've compared my bud against other photo growers with the same response that I was pulling there legs on it being Auto (had to show them my photo journals). I tend to grow Super Autos and find it almost comparable to what they grow. I can grow for 70 days and have enough for me and the misses for the year how can you beat that.
