It's very easy to figure out how much light you need. How you want to spread it around the space is up to you. You can do that however you like as long as you balance that out. 25w per square foot is a good place to start with autos, much more will just burn the plants anyway. This is not the sometimes posted wattage on the light. I have a Bestva 600w led blurple, I love to use in my tent because it has a great spectrum, but the real wattage is 65w in veg mode and 70w in flower, only 135 when running full spectrum. That covers nearly half the wattage I need until flower phase begins. I use cobs for the rest of my light. I just use a simple lux meter to balance the light in the tent and avoid hotspots.
I can recommend an app, and help you set up your lights and balance them out if you need any help! It's really easy stuff.
I wish I could afford a PAR meter, even a cheaper LED light meter would be fine too. I have a Kill-a-Watt to get my actual watts, but that doesnt mean much with anything but HID lighting. I got three tents going now so I'd like to scale it back but no money for new lights, just bought two CobShop lights maybe next month I can order some parts to start building. I'll PM you so we are not spamming up AJ's thread :smoking: (unless AJ is interested)
@RivetGrrl you've got the right one here. Med will have you sorted and you'll be buying a new light by the end of the day!
I'm hopefully retaining this info for a year from now when I am in the market for a new light lol
Yea...right!!...but at least the info will be here and available to look back on.
Lights and light bills gonna kill me, if my husband doesn't first for tripping the breaker at least once a day
