Auto topping thread, pushing the auto limits;)

Good day growers im a master photo and auto grower.but my passion is with autoflower seeds.i been on a mission for 5 years growing now trying diffrent methods of training on autos to see what they truly behold.truth is autos aint no diffrent to a normal plant other than they flower on there own.u can top lst supercrop and defol autos with monster results if done at the correct time.oviously every plant is diffrent so always use the seed info as a rough guide;) and a short plant can yield just as much as a tall plant;) in this thread i will show u all along the way of the true limits of autos and there true potential as i grow them for u all to see;).also if ur an auto grower who likes to push the limits,do speak up and all pics of ur autos and talk and all questions welcome on pushing the auto limits.here a few examples of the results achived topping an auto young followed by later lst.few heavy defols along the way ,gives u an army of dominant colas and a big heavy yield.and a beautiful plant.here is automazar topped and lstd;)

@Dory so far I haven't felt like my plants look like whatever pictures or videos, even the same strains a lot of times. Just do what feels right to you, they are gonna be unique to your system of growing anyway. I don't have the most experience but from what I've seen so far they can take a pretty good amount of abuse. I've broken branches almost completely off, split them wide open, it's usually fine. I mean look at @Builder0101 plant that he busted the whole top off of.

How do autos react to squeezing, breaking up the inner section of the stem and bending over?
Search super cropping on here. They are just fine with it. I know this is the topping thread but here is FB Orange Sherbet heavily super cropped to fit in a narrow tent. My first time really trying with this method too.

my nodes are closely spaced so its hard to get between them atm. Hoping they may stretch a bit by day 21 so I can give em a pinch and bend em over. Will let you know

Thats reassuring... think I am gonna top them once and take the training from there.... give them a day or 2 to recover and will start seeing what needs to be done training wise. They are short and stout and very bushy for 17 days old.

Thanks, I hear you. I guess its helpful to find similar looking set ups and outcomes at varying stages of growth for us newbies to AF. I have grown photos in the past but am new to autos so very wary due to their sensitivities. I have decided I will definitely top my girls tomorrow which will be day 18. Will update my journal when I do it if you want to follow our progress :) Thanks for the reassurance.

I do not know why Peeps think Autos are sensative or weak in any way; they are not. I grow autos and photos exactly the same way except light which is run 12/12 in flower for photos and 18/6 the entire time for veg and autos! No difference. For nutrients I always start at 50% of chart and bump up 10% per week until slight tip burn and back off 10%. Same for autos and photos. Same lights, everything the same.

Well I took the plunge today and topped both my ladies - and bent them over with ease.... hardly needed to pinch them. Anchored them and down they went - getting by on a wing and a prayer ;)

I won't be so wary in future, topped and bent them over today with no problems. Will see how they recover over next few days :)

First time grower here and i feel like topping a plant but just have a question before I do so. Do you count the first single serrated leaf as node 1? My trident special is 17 days since cotyledons opening and I just don't want to chop off 1 to many nodes and only end up with 6 mains branches instead of 8.

It's been 8 days since i topped the trident and it didn't seem to phase her at all. Waited a week for her to grow because she is a short bush even under 3000k. Yesterday I did a little lst and and today she was already turning upwards.

This is a Fast Buds Orange Sherbert on Day 27, two days after tying her down. She’s growing in 1/3 Perlite/Coco Loco/Royal Gold Mendo and getting water with molasses and Southern Ag fungicide every other feeding or so.
