Hello Mr Autoteaser

Not dude thanks I'm a bit old for that!

The pH in the individual oxypots does fluctuate on a daily basis as the plants use up water, nutrient and excrete back into the reservoir.... it's just the way things are...

So when doing eight individual plants it does take a bit of work... but put the time in and the results follow... when maintaining individual buckets the plants get a tailored nutrient regime rather than a "family" average for a piped up system which does have the advantage of less work involved...

You just have to do what fits best with you and your circumstances

Happy gardening

I hope its okay if I ask a bunch of questions. From the look of it you don't have a final weight yet but what was the total wattage used to flower this girl? I have 4 600w HPS that I want to integrate with LED to double my grow area (from 7x7 to 14x14 feet). Almost all manufactures list a foot print for their units that is below 50 watts/sq. foot. In your opinion does this rule not apply to LED? Is par watts/sq. foot a more meaningful measurement? Does resin production increase under LEDs?

Do you feel there are advantages to using HPS with LED? My goal is to grow the best cannabis possible. I would prefer tight flowers with higher cannabinoid content than bigger yield. Any thoughts on what lighting combination provides the best results? Lastly - do you feel like auto flowering plants give an advantage in terms of yield or quality with LED lights?

I hope its okay if I ask a bunch of questions.

Mmmhh you could have had me at "Hello"

Hello Mr/Ms/Mrs Wyckoff, a hello Mr ganjamoto would have been a more polite way to open a conversation.... however I'll forgive you and endeavor to answer your questions.... though I will firstly put the disclaimer in

Mr ganjamoto IS NOT AN EXPERT AT OFFERING ADVICE MERELY A BIG PLANT GROWER WITH HIS OWN HIGHLY PRODUCTIVE WAY OF DOING THINGS WITH THE HIGH-TECH EQUIPMENT HE HAS TO HAND....

From the look of it you don't have a final weight yet
Mr ganjamoto is in the mood for a bit of panto so: OH YES I DO.....

but what was the total wattage used to flower this girl?
Madge was flowered initially under Gavita Pro 400v 600w then GrowNorthern MS006 disco light at 190w approximately and a half share in a Gavita Pro 400v 600w unit running Sylvania grolux, the disco light was added due to height issues preventing the Gavita being mounted directly over Miss Madge..

I have 4 600w HPS that I want to integrate with LED to double my grow area (from 7x7 to 14x14 feet).
Nice size area....

Almost all manufactures list a foot print for their units that is below 50 watts/sq. foot. In your opinion does this rule not apply to LED? Is par watts/sq. foot a more meaningful measurement?
I think so, though you'd be better off PMing Tang, Seymour-buds or the GrowNorthern rep guy who know a lot lot more than Mr ganjamoto about LED lighting... the disco light was used as supplementary lighting as far as I was concerned

Does resin production increase under LEDs?
???

Do you feel there are advantages to using HPS with LED? My goal is to grow the best cannabis possible.
Advantage... LED increases light amount and quality with minimal extra heat energy input to the grow area... HPS provides heat and lots of light....

I would prefer tight flowers with higher cannabinoid content than bigger yield.
Mr ganjamoto would prefer both......

Any thoughts on what lighting combination provides the best results?
Early days yet to have fully formed an opinion...

Lastly - do you feel like auto flowering plants give an advantage in terms of yield or quality with LED lights?
No.

Anyone else feel free to chip in....

Hello Mr Ganjamoto, what a wonderful diary and beautiful garden :)

Plasma lighting ... ooooooh ! You made a tree of nuggets, lovely.

I can't wait for induction-lighting to become available at reasonable prices it looks like good tech.

By the way, sometimes CFL lights are useful for more than lighting up toilet areas, check these four DP StarRyders done under a humble 250W flowering CFL, got an ounce per plant, using 2L pots :

In the land of Mr Jorilla ganjamoto it is an offence to use cfl for anything other than illuminating toilet areas, however Mr Jorilla can see that they have been put to good use in the land of Steelratia and have produced some dusky maidens... well done sir...

happy gardening
