In Canada back in the late eighties early nineties it was class one pain killer it was meant for Cancer patients only. Somehow some way the powers that be got it changed to a class two pain killer. So a broken toe to a bad back a family Physician could prescribe Percocet. With in a few years the huge addiction started. In 1996 the Lilly corporation came up with OXYCOTIN they had there salesman an women go around telling doctors/Nurses it was the new pain killer that was not addtictive due to its time realease I shit you not I have talked to more than one nurse an doctor that was told that. Big Pharma the real DRUG DEALER.Are opiate pain meds worth it?
We all know, or think we do, of the negative side of opiates. I ponce spent 2 months on Fentanyl, a synthetic morphine. For which i spent 10 days in hell to get off of.
And now let me tell you whats even worse.
I was given Percoset for pain. i decided i'd use them the shortest time i could. So i took 2 as per prescription, every 6 hours for three days. Then I decided that was enough. I felt fairly good and pain was tolerable. 12 hours later I didn't feel so good. 24 hours later I was in full withdrawal.sick stomach, cramps, sweats.
its now 48 hours and I'm still sick, although its a bit better.
So, three days of pain relief has cost me almost three days of pain and sickness. So what did I gain from this????????
maybe people need to start saying no to opiate pain meds. Pain is no fun but it does serve a purpose or our bodies wouldn't create it. Maybe we need to learn to deal with it in some situations. Maybe doctors are too liberal with prescriptions. Personally, I'm beginning to think that opiates should not be prescribed for use outside of a hospital, and that part of the recovery process should include detox/withdrawal management as standard procedure. They pump you full of this shit, then dump you off to home to deal with it on your own!
If I ever have to do this again, I WILL find a way to do it without highly addictive substances! I believe I'd be farther along with my recovery than I am.
