Hi again guys.. I have been doing some research/surfing and came across another experiment i'll try.. A solventless extract method to extract the trichs from the flower, similar to an eth extract, however, this will use only water..this differs from the GOB method i posted last year in that the water pH is at 11.5, and at that pH is said to "emusify" oil..i am not endorsing the water filter company, just posting their info, and we will find out if this is a viable option .. So heres how the process will be attempted and documented..
image.jpeg
image.jpeg
as a test to this theory.. I started with the olive oil and the 11.5 water
image.jpeg
added both to the small mason jar and as expected the oil separated from the water
image.jpeg
after a bit of shaking, similar to an eth extract, this is the result.. The oil appears to have broken down to smaller molecules to some extent.. I will leave this sitting overnight and see if the oil pulls/pools back together... In the meantime i will prep some buds/flowers and get em in the freezer to freeze up the chlorophyll.. With the water being at a set 11.5 pH, it is advised to not refrigerate it,so it will be left at room temp... Anybody have any thoughts?? @pop22 @archie gemmill @Dudeski @AmberTrichome @HashMaster @Root @Eekman ..Hey if it works, good for us, if not,at least we know.... Update tomorrow....

very interesting.
what has been added to the water to alter the ph ?
the oil and water dont mix phenomenon isnt 100% and can be bent a lil,i used to remember the word for it.
i think ph readings change +/- outside of 25c.
an older trich forms a hard protective layer, will 11.5ph water be enough to dissolve it ?
heck who knows, but only one way to find out eh!
thanks to budelee we gonna find out.
cheers
:pighug:
the 11.5ph water emulsifies oil,oil is a liquid.trichs are a solid,tiny partical.
il stop scratching my head.

All good and valid points.. The water is filtered a certain way throught Kangens process,i havent really researched the hows of how its done.. After a talk with my sister about body pH,she found this company locally and gets various pH waters for health and cleaning. The bud ill be using is cream mandarin which was trimmed last week but working overtime didnt make it into the curing jars ,hopefully the water will dissolve the husk and let the oils flow thru the filter.. I can see this morning that the olive oil did "pool" back up at the top of the water.. But.. In true pioneering fashion,, i will continue the experiment, document fully, and write an honest summary of the findings.. I always have eearl and bud on the ready so it wont be a major loss... I have a few things to prep and get ready.. More soon..

Alright guys the "purge" is in process for this solventless extract experiment.. Since this is using water as an "agent",this is safe to do indoors lets roll thru some pics and descriptions and we will see how the final return compares with some of the other processes
image.jpeg
this was the jar this morning with olive oil..oh oh!?! The oil has pooled back together
image.jpeg
these are quart size jars,i chose not to chop the bud. Its an experiment and i didnt want the fine particles to breach the filter
image.jpeg
the buds were frozen overnight to minimize chlorophyll pickup( maybe a moot point since the water was not chilled)
image.jpeg
gotta have a cuppa!! I think the cup would look better with an AW/AFN Logo.. Hmmmmm....
image.jpeg
filters soaked in the 11.5 water to reduce the filter from "soaking up any extra oil".. The buds were covered and shaken for approx 1 minute each then poured into the filters
image.jpeg
may be hard to see in this pic but i had a few filter failures and had to refilter a few times
image.jpeg
the water is poured thru the fine steel mesh into the filters,at this point it was a wait for the last filter to empty out
image.jpeg
this is what i call filter hash and since this was a water extract, its prolly similar to a "bubble hash" extract if the 11.5 water did not dissolve the husk of the triches to get the oil out..i will collect and smoke this and give a report
image.jpeg
the liquid is now on a double boil/water bath to stabilize the temp and evap the water
image.jpeg
the temp here is in the range for the best terp and flavor if this was an eth extract this would be perfect, since its water and a first attempt i will take the temp to about 120F .... Nothing left to do but wait... Another update soon.....

Thanks for the shout brother! This is an intriguing technique. From the pictures, it does appear the water emulsified the oil more than normal.

How did the leftover material look? Did it look like most of the trichomes got removed? Are you planning on drying it for inspection/smoke test?
