Day 38

Hey guys,

Things are mostly the same. Plants still in stretch, not putting any energy into buds yet. The 3 plants are pretty varied at this point in size, and are already starting to smell like an afghani. I don't really have anything to help deal with smell on these guys, so hopefully they don't get too stinky.

PPMs drop from 700 to 450 within a couple days. Rez change is every 3 days because it probably wouldn't last a 4th..

Nutes are still Canna Aqua (flowering nutes), Botanicare cal mag plus, and H202.

Thanks for stopping by, and good luck on your grows!

Looking nice and green!

Day 10 of flower (day 40)

Plants seem to be doing OK. Two distinct phenos, one is a bit stretchy and tall, which really doesn't work good in the bucket... The canpoy gets far from the ventilation and sweat gets excessive.

She has been... very much defoliated. I have decided in these cramped spaces fan leaves become a bit of a luxury... I realize yield could be affected, but the alternative is worse... sort of the lesser of two evils when growing in tiny spaces.

Also I realized I actually do enjoy hydroponics. It's the cramped spaces that ruin it, the rest of it is actually quite fun. No dirty feeling soil/mix to deal with. No worry about over/under watering.

Just pumps, ppms and PH. I could def never go back to passive hydro now.

Anyways, here they are:

Day 52 (approximatey 3 weeks into flower)

Hey yall,

The little ladies are doing OK for being grown inside a bucket... Each one has climbed into the LED unexpectedly at diff times and gotten some tiny burns. Nothing too serious thus far.

There is a leak in the drain of the one on the far left, which is a disappointment. It's not a major leak, but getting to it, and getting it patched up is a fairly major endeavor (this is the main weakness of the system I have found so far, maintenance on plumbing SUUUCKSSSSSSS).

  • RO Water
  • PPMs are stable at about 550
  • 90 actual watts from LEDs per plant
  • Canna Aqua base at about 3ml a gal each (A & B total 6ml per gal)
  • Botanicare cal mag plus @ 5ml/gallon (used for first 250PPms of whole grow)
  • H202 3% @ 5ml/gallon

They are looking good Ani!
I think a few more of these grows and you will be off and running with the horses!

I was able to fix the leak with this "as seen on tv" stuff called Flex Seal... I took the plant out of the system and gave a few serious coats of the stuff over the course of about 3 hours.

Fixing the tiny leak made a huge difference in how often I have to change the rez, which is really nice. I wish I had pinpointed it sooner haha...

I looked through these pictures, and they are not super great...

The space buckets make getting a good photo hard sometimes... my apologies x_x

I will say, these plants definitely flower fast... I started the seeds of this grow 2 weeks after my other grow, and I think these will catch up and I will be harvesting both at the same time.

The one on the left is so much taller than the other 2 :| Here is a pic of the buckets (look how tall the left one is), and a pic of the left ones canopy.

If she goes any more vertical I'm in trouble.

here is the one in the middle AKA the decimated one. She is definitely the least of the 3, probably due to the massive wilting episode when younger...

Here is the one on the right:

I probably wont be able to get good pics again until chop time when I can take them out of there... Shouldn't be too much longer though for these guys. Maybe 2-3 weeks or so if I had to guess, but I'm not great at guessing that...

Thanks for stopping by and good luck on your grows!

Dude, your plants are doing great!

Looks like you are getting more comfortable with growing.:Sharing One:

I'm thinking maybe next time you should consider using 55gal drums instead of 5gal buckets lol Those plants definitely want to bust out of those things!!! They look great!!!

Thanks guys!

I think a much heavier focus on the basics (temps/ventilation/ppm/ph) this time around is part of what is making the difference. Also having knowledgeable people here at AFN at every turn is huge factor!

The buckets really are too small, I think these plants will be OK and I will obviously finish out the grow, but I am going to dismantle the system between this grow and the next.

I have plans to replace it with a full sized tent so I can grow a single medium/large plant as opposed to 3 squished plants.

Thanks again yall!

The little ladies are hanging in there. Their branches actually feel sorta heavy... sturdy though, not being weighed down, but noticeably weighty. I don't know if that will translate into some nice nugs, but it seems like a nice change compared to what I normally find on my plants at this stage. Also, the one in the middle smells amazing... Like an afghan, but also very sweet candy! True to the name for sure, at least in aroma ;D

I'm still not sure if mold will be a problem or not... they are in these tiny cases, but ventilation is good, and humidity isn't high.
