New Grower Animatey fumbles photo periods: Royal Queen Critical DWC w/ TOPLED

Sounds great.
When you cut those branches, if all you can do is stick them in a piece of moist rockwool or glass of water, try it, you may get a new plant or two out of it.
Just consider it a little side thing that was trash if it doesn't take any way.
You might be surprised.

Good Luck!
GB

I decided to take your advice and make clones out of those branches :D

Like you said, even if it doesn't work I haven't lost anything. I honestly don't even know what I would do if they rooted... Like I wouldn't have a space for them, but at the same time I might successfully clone for the first time and wont be so paranoid about it in the future.

I actually ordered some clonex gel to put on them before they go into the wool, and so I have it handy in the future.

The plant is looking like 100% better. I think we have found a harmony for the time being. I am still a little scared about what will happen in flower, if I run into some of these same issues it will cost in yield for sure so hopefully I have it under control....

Here she is at day 23:

Dude,
she is looking great.
I think you will be fine.
And think that is a great approach to using the cutoffs.
I would be surprised if one of them doesn't take.
If it does and your really can't squeeze it in anywhere, just toss it.

Thanks man! I'm just nervous because flowering is where I always really jack it up. Sometimes I think growing tobacco must be a piece of cake because all you gotta do is grow leaves. With weed you have to actually get flowers and I just find that part hella tricky LOL... I am watching my PH and PPMs with some serious diligence though this time so maybe I can get her through with some big buds instead of the burned mess of crap I normally end up with hahaha.... time will tell.

Thanks again for keeping an eye on this grow, I definitely appreciate it and it's been a huge help!

So I woke up in the middle of the night last night, and found another cause for the stress she had earlier this week...

I kinda thought she was wimpy because she was really droopy even with white roots, not recovering etc. However, last night I awoke to see a little pink light sticking out of the bottom of the cab...

Well last week when she really started looking bad I decided to reduce the number of light hours. Here was my reasoning:
  • She was showing a little bit of light burn on the leaves
  • Roots were not well grown out
  • She seemed to generally be struggling to use her leaves for photosynthesis (big time mag def), so I figure less light in the day gives her more time to sort that stuff out

Anyways so I thought I was going from 20/4 to 18/6... Somehow I accidentally deleted the turning off part of the program and ended up at lights on 24/7
:jaw:

This became obvious when I saw lights on at 5AM....

Well luckily she bounced back, but next time I see that sort of behavior, another thing I know to do now is to check is my timers... She really did pretty good for having all that go wrong at once... pretty hardy!

I really don't know how that happened... it's kind of annoying... After I make a timing change, I seriously double check my timer settings like someone with OCD on crystal meth and aderol. I wouldn't be surprised if I average 5 times through all 8 programs before I am convinced I put it in right.

I must have bumped the buttons or something when adjusting something on top next to it like the fan speed controller, or maybe when I was adjusting all the electrical plugs up there... not sure...

I'm going to try and flip in about 2 weeks and I think until then I will just leave them 24/0 because she is happy for once in her life lol...

Sub'd up to this. I'm also growing a RQ Critical, week 5, 2nd week of flower. I have just been reading up on the strain and she is a 7 week flower strain and is a short plant staying under 1 meter tall indoors (according to RQ website).

Will be cool to keep up with this, glad you got things stable in the tent.

Glad to have you along man! Things are still going OK. I will look to see if you have a journal on your RQ and def follow along. It would be cool to have a window 2 weeks into the future ;D

I started flowering her a couple days ago, because she was just getting too tall.... she was growing an inch a day with the light 12 inches away, didn't look stretched. I did super crop her successfully but it took me about 3 days before I finally bent the main stem enough to stay bent for a couple days. 2 days after it started standing up I flipped to flower.

I measured how much higher my light could go and paniced. I immediately started tons of LST, she is actually a lot shorter overall than she was 2 days ago, I have been in there twice a day really trying to tie her down. Will keep it up for the next 2-3 weeks until she stops the stretch. I ended up chopping the 3 lowest pairs of branches as they just looked wimpy as hell and were already being outgrown in pace by the 4th and 5th sets.

She is taking 600 PPM down to about 510 in a day or less so I upped it today and did a rez change. Pics of the LST to come hopefully later this week.

PH climbing, but manageable. I usually put it in there at about 5.3 and within a couple hours it's at 5.5. Next day somewhere at 6 and then the day after I usually need to addback with nutes/ph down or do a rez change.

Thanks for stopping by and good luck on your grows ;D ! :Sharing One:

Still no pictures, but hopefully this weekend...

I have been really careful with PH, PPM, light distance and pretty much have cab and water temps as low as I can get them.

She is so far doing good. I had to really tie the shit out of her on the daily because I seriously had misjudged how far my light could go up when I calculated flip time, and she wasn't joking in the stretch. The canopy is as even as I ever get them lol... not the masterpieces I see some people do, but I think it will do well.

I am now super prepared to be a PPM watching hawk.

I think stretch is over because the PPM hogging has stopped. She was happy at 800 PPM for a while, now really coming down to about 650 and still not done dropping I don't think. I don't see the pistil spheres yet, but I think within a couple days.

Question:
So guys, I am probably just dreaming, but I have heard that on some indicas, the buds get fat and can snap branches... I see on seedfinder it says that branches need JoJos or bamboo or some other method of support. My idea is to loosely tie every branch to the main stem. Not pulling it closer, but just making sure it can't lean too far.

Does this sound like it will work, if I in fact I do, for the first time ever, grow decent sized nugs?

Thanks for stopping by, and good luck on your grows!! :goodluck:

Hey Ani,
Tying the branches to the main stem is a solution I often use if I am concerned.
Works great.
Looking forward to pics.

Managed to get some pics before lights out ;]
I tied a couple wooden dowels together at the base so I would have something to tie to. Actually worked OK, would prob do it again:

She has gotten a little bigger since last time:

Canopy is OKish:

She is getting close to filling up that whole cabinet... I can still go up about 6 inches on my light, but I think she is actually done with the stretch. Plus there is no way that LED is going to penetrate another 6 inches anyways haha....

Good luck on your grows guys and gals ;D

Great solution for your lst!
She is looking good dude.
Keep up the good work and you are going to be reaping the benefits!
I am excited for you!
