Live Stoners Alaska LEGAL commercial grow room design!!

Another reason I'm not going in on it. It will be too new here. Plus with the onset of feds shutting you down too. Heard it has happened in Colorado and Washington and there is no real way to fight it, even with a good lawyer. No, I'll grow for myself and family. Too many people are going to jump the gun and loose out. Besides, I enjoy growing and if it was something I HAD to get up and go do every day, it would get to the point where it was for profit, it would loose it's luster, fast for me. I love my job and love my simple growing. You watch, it will be just like Colorado, everyone jumping the gun, opening a dispensary and 2 months in, nobody has the supply for the dispensaries and folks will loose everything they have. Not saying it can't be done, the right way, but Alaska is genuinely unique with the flash in the pan businesses and todays fad is tomorrows bankruptcy. We have a small population compared to lower 48 and it is spread out all over the state. There are alot of native villages where their tribal laws reign supreme over state and federal laws and most villages are "dry" meaning NO alcohol and drugs of any kind. The whole population of Anchorage is only 301,000. The whole state is under 740,000 and 49% of those people voted NO to legalize that turned out to vote. It was an ongoing joke in the News paper, that said there were more people in their 20's that registered just so it would pass. So even if the Math is slighted, Anchorage as a whole would only see maybe 100,000 people using for recreation/medical, the rest dont or wont use and the other 1/2 of the state is in a dry state. I have personally, seen too many businesses come and go to know, only a select few will survive. With any business, the deeper the pockets, the longer it runs. NOT wanting to put anyone off from investing and running businesses here, but one had better have done a ton of homework and know people that know people. Politically speaking of course. If it is done the right way, with some good financial backing, while owning the dispensary TOO, you could make a go of it, but like I said, better know a few people in the right places. But hey, the laws arent even written yet!?!?

yea man! I agree! That's why I'm trying to have my shit together when they call. I'm not losing any money they are all very successful business men and doctors. The buddy has a business and a house right outside ancorage.

I have grown partial to Ocean Solutions Fertilizers.
http://www.oceansolution.com/

I find i can grow in soil, or hydroponically with little loss of nutes.

I have been growing terrarium/vermicomposting style for the last 2 years, and find that it is the most beneficial to me.
My system doesn't require commercial nutrients, and though a tedious setup is required, it has become an almost foolproof and hands off method of cropping for me. The best part is that i can reuse the soil.

I will share how this is done soon, if there is enough interest, and will give setup details for the system.

very interested in checking out your setup.

Hello everyone and thanks for stoping by.
Im designing a commercial grow room for my investors to understand how the room will look. I have some ideas. But I also would like to ask my AFN family what they think also. I'm trying to be the most efficient I can with minimal light loss!

We already have 300 acres of land right outside of Ancorage Alaska and there putting a warehouse on it. We don't really know how it will be regulated yet, wether it be plant count or canopy sq footage!

Im gonna give a quick run down of the design I have in mind. Fell free to help me think of better ways to do this. I have design a lot of rooms for myself and a few friends. I enjoy it to be honest. Lol
i will also post some pics of that I have found that I like the concept that others have used.

I am going to go with all leds in flowering room. I'm not a huge fan of hps. Don't care for the heat, the sound, and the wasted spectrum. In the 90's it was different, that's all that worked. Hahaha and besides, the electric bill will be insane in the membrane!! Lol

i am wanting to go with a 4x4 scrog with one plant per scrog. Yes I know it will take a while to veg that size scrog. Lol the reason I want to go with a scrog is because it is the best style of growing in my opinion. Lots of energy being put into the flowers, no energy loss to lower sites, and less foliage to fight from above.

one mars 2 1600w led in the center of each scrog.
It has a coverage of about 5x5 but 4x4 has more penetration and better coverage.

I am looking into running Big Blue ozone tubes to exhaust though with UV bulbs to eliminate smell.
Cheaper easier than scrubbers. And last a lot longer.

I have seen alt of awesome things come from Blue planet Nutrients organic line. Have 2 guys using in Colorado also.

I am am also going to have some UVB supplemental lighting for trich production but that a lot of shit to explain and don't feel like arguing. Lol

this pic is very similar to what I have conjured up in my head. Lol.
The only thing I don't like about this is the light is wasted to me. But I guess in commercial grows you can't really have reflective walls everywhere. Haven't been able to come up with any educated ideas. Hahaha

let me know what you think!!

You have some good ideas. However, IMO, scrog nets are not commercially viable. Yes, they will improve the harvest, but they are quite labor intensive if done correctly. First you have to spend time doing LST and Super Cropping, etc. Then, days spent weaving the branches thru the screen. Harvesting may be slower also. I suppose in a retail environment, given the states that legalized have a penchant for keeping prices high ( more tax$$$$$$ ... ) it might be viable. It would also depend on what limits a state placed on the grower. It might be viable if there is a plant limit.

I think once the feds reschedule pot to 2 or 3 or deschedule it, big pharma/business will get involved, start producing overseas where labor costs are low and import it, driving most local grows out of business.

This is why we all need the right to grow our own.

Hey man, some interesting ideas in here!
Just my 2p, it can really take time to get a large room dialled in, be it either environmentally or practically.
We've had our big flowering room going a few months short of 2 years and it's only really ticking over nicely now, of course we have budget constraints and lack of man power, which in an ideal world wouldn't be the case.

we now went in the direction of beds/planters with 4, each has two lights with plants two weeks apart, it means less time is spent potting up and associated tasks, and having the different stages staggered means we now have bite sized chunks of work to do instead of a mountain.

we can harvest one bed in a day, rather than the whole room in 4 days.
we will also look to add another 2 beds as there is the space.
We are finding the plants are really liking them, there's less mess, and less water run off.

it's nice to think about efficiency and minimising light loss but it's hard in a big space, you also need room to work around everything easily, and to make sure it's easily cleanable.

I thinks it's the really simple, boring, practical things that are more important to consider than the equipment and fancy things :)

I agree Mitch. Thanks for your input. I am still kinda shocked that they still haven't even allowed them to apply for producer/cultivation license.

i like the thought of perpetual scrog, I like the bud from a scrog better than just LST'd plants.

Im thinking I want a lot of medium sized rooms instead of huge large rooms.
In my opinion, there easier to control the environment. The exhaust smell isn't that big a deal since the land we will be using is kind of remote.

I really like like the LED lighting. I think it shows a transition into "the future" if you will. Hahaha
Alot of people don't think I should go with LED's but I have seen the Mars 1600w do a awesome job. The 5x5 scrog my buddy medgrower1 on YouTube was running was actually 4x4. That's my bad. Lol
