AJs Land of Random Thoughts

I myself am leaning more towards smaller breeders. La Buena Herba is on my list of favorites right now working through a few of his strains at the moment. I honestly cant figure out how he is not more popular. As far as I am concerned no one and I mean no one can do a haze auto as well as he can. Maybe it is the language barrier. The regular aspect on his autos makes it tough with space though
Yes, LBH was here at AFN very early on, and his auto's were ahead of their time for quality especially considering their Haze lineage! All this is a hobby for him I believe, and so sometimes it gets back-burnered and doesn't evolve much... meantime the rest of the market is fizzing away... He's not loud in advertising, and lack of fem's is another minus to his popularity.... For so many of us, reg's are just not practical!
He's seen the light though, fem's trickling out now, more to come... I know he's holding some back from the website, not sure why?

Yeah HBSS is the real deal I ran it probably 5 or 6 times great smoke though. I actually ran it because I saw that @BigSm0 was running it a lot at the time. Its been a few years back though.
I'm behind the times on her- :rolleyes2: ...sitting on those seeds for 2+ years? My backlog is just silly,... inherited some older stuff from "retired" growers, like Blue Cush, Sour Blues...gotta run them before they age out!
Well HBSS is up and running now, so is White Crack.... Did you get bbgum aroma consistently on yours? My main concern is how big she'll get, might be she ends up outside full time and transplanted into bigger shoes... I'm running that KIS Organics Nute pack amendment, for auto's done right it's nearly water only, aside from the usual supp's like Si, kelp, humic-fulvic, micronutes. First run last year was a bit hot, so I hope it's dialed in better this round!

Hash looks great AJ  .... I think the 160 is just that, a size just large enough to catch most the debris... I have Bubble Bowls fir dry ice hash, first bowl is 160 as well....

Any idea why the 45 would be so dark? I figured it would be the lightest. Its almost completely dry I will post some pics in the next day or two. Wanting to cut back a little on all the smoke in my lungs so I figured hash would be the way to go.

I would say of the six times I ran HBBS it almost all of them had a bubblegum scent. The sweetness was always there taste wise.

I feel your pain my first big Auto order was a Mehisto black friday sale and i loaded up. I have probably 15 strains from them I have not ran yet. Walter White and Sweet Tooth are my favorites I think. Maybe Deep Blue C but that is just because its pretty. Then the year after I ordered I did more testing than I thought was possible and the grow battles. I then ended up placing second in the Mephisto contest and they sent me five strains that were going to be new releases. (forgotten cookies, strawberry something, Fugue state and two others) Long story short I lost a lot of seeds with backlog I mean I still have them but three year old autos are not real great at popping. I have been experimenting thought. Someone told me Korean Natural Farming's OHN will help and I have some around as I mess with KNF every now and then. I did find some sweet seeds Crystal Candy from a contest and they popped and they had to be pushing 3 years in my possession.

Been awhile since I posted here and I have not been doing a lot of testing so I guess that is why. Have some photo crosses I have been messing with and pressing bubble hash (nightmare results so not pics yet). Ran through all the Linda's seed gear I bought last thanksgiving photos and autos. Kind of my thoughts below. More for reference for this year if I purchase again.

Lindas Seeds

Auto's- First runs through all went good the Fat Blueberry and Purple Kush not so much. Again no issue with the Photos and only two of the auto strains I had issues with. At 1.50 ish a seed it is not the end of the world but if I had limited space I would not be happy.
Purple Kush-Good buzz, bag appeal is nice (great color), Buds were smallish really compact. (most purples are) Update ran two more of these and was all over the place one was squat probably a foot tall the other is over five feet. Both are green with a smidge of purple on the sugar leaves. Buds are green. Does not seem super stable. Pitching the rest of these.
GG4- Good as any other one I have grown from other places. This must be the most stable strain ever. I am not a fan I grow it for wifey. She loves it.
Fat Blueberry- This one is probably my favorite as I am a big blueberry fan. 2 of the 3 had that classic blueberry smell. The other was more floral I guess is the word. On the off pheno the buds were a little more loose and airy but they still had an incredible high. Trimming is a bitch but worth it. Update- Ran this one again and unfortunatly there is a big issue. I smoke about 6 bowls out of bong of the second one and did not even get a buzz. My guess is that it is an off pheno because I do not believe in duding.
Bannana Smash-Very weird flavor, not bad just never tasted anything like it. Easy to trim, very dense compact buds covered in tons of orange hairs. I used it when I was struggling with sleep as it is almost instant nap time.
Afghan Skunk (freebie)- I have not grown a skunk in a long time. This one did not disappoint. Very stout strong smelling plant with a good high. Skunks usually are not my cup of tea, but if you like them I think you would be happy with this one.

Photos

Mamba Negra (Blim Burn seeds) (freebies) Growing this one now. Not much to say very short plant so far about to flip to flower next week. Critical Mass x Skunk. Update- Did not know these guys till I got this freebie with my order. I am also going to look into their Autos. Going to chop next weekend if the smell and structure is any indication of what they can do on other strains I am a fan.
Grapefruit- Citrus smelling and great relaxing high. Big fan of this one. Update-pulled almost 6oz on the second one at harvest. I am re vegging and cloning this one for another run.
Wedding Cake- It has the right smell and grew fairly easily. Not a huge fan of the high to be honest not bad just not my favorite.
(Sweet Seeds) Tropicanna Poison- Great plant always on my favorite list.
(seedstockers) Runts- I had not grown this one before. Very sweet smell, dense buds, relaxing high. Nothing to not like.
Gelato- Great smoke similar to many gelatos I have ran photo and auto. Big dense buds with a sweet smell and matching high.

So thats my quick review so I can remember when people ask. Linda's always comes up when thanksgiving comes around because their prices are so low. I think most of these were a dollar a seed maybe 1.50 (except the Runts and Tropicana Poison). So I ended up with a total of 50 seeds and my cost with shipping was 140 ish if I remember right. Not a bad deal since none of the strains were genetically bad some were just not my cup of tea. I have dropped a total of 35 of the seeds and only two did not germ.

Old Seeds
Was going through the fridge and found some old seeds I won from placing second in the Mephisto Gladiator Battle in 17. Mephisto gave us a prize pack of seeds that if I remember correctly were not released at the time. Forgotten Cookies, Fugue State, Strawberry Nuggets and hmmm not sure on the other two (an orange diesel cross and something else I am blanking on at the moment). So I decided to see how my new germ method works on older seeds. On fresh seeds I am batting 1000. (knocks on wood)

I use distilled water with a few drops of peroxide and put them in root riots(using tweezers I try not to touch the seeds with my hands at all) then throw them in a baggie with a little water at the bottom and set them in my closet bathroom. Then.....magic.

I originally used a paper towel for this but I snapped a tap root messing with the damn soggy paper towel so I went to the root riots.

We will see if these end up growing or duding out. In the past I struggled with older seeds going to direct to soil so once something was a year or two old I just let them sit in the fridge. This has my hopes up I probably have 80-90 strains sitting in there that I have not ran in years. I was able to get some of my old double grape to pop as well. Hoping I can get some of the sour hounds to sprout on my next run.

Dropped some seeds for Brother Mendel's grow and show yesterday. Midwest Widow (bobby's widow x cascadian blueberry) sounds promising. Its been a minute since I have been in a grow off hopefully I do not make myself look silly. Lots of good growers in this one. I am testing my starting soil again I use 3.0 build a soil right now but am contemplating moving their Malibu LOS. On this grow I will do one of each then decide going forward. Either way after the initial grow it will go to my no till with amending between cycles. Right now I am on my sixth run in 10 gallons with no issues. I just want to check out the Malibu as it has a higher compost content from the start. Might not make much difference any way but we will see. I will update my comparisons in here since its not really relevant to the grow and show.

Would like to thank Green Grass Seeds and the lovely @Rebel for my latest delivery. I was bummed about not getting in on the Blood Lemon Narcos so I went with the Cherry Cheese Skunk. As luck would have it I received two Blood Lemon Narcos as freebies.

As always fast delivery and great products.
